The Lord of the Rings is not a beacon of progressive politics but one thing it was pretty blatant about, if you have a smidge of media literacy, was being a critique of fascism. Tolkien didn’t hide this, he repeatedly affirmed it. So the fact the far right keep using it as propaganda is egregious

I just want everyone to know that Mamdani did way better on his SATs than I did and my job is basically “professional smart guy on the internet.”
Maybe my expectations are unreasonably high for humans, but I find it very difficult to imagine thinking this, let alone thinking to publish it. The “savor” speaks volumes.
