Music, books, other stuff.

Idiots, the lot of you.
I agree (with the odd exception but none of us are perfect or have anyone we agree with 100% on anything) re: Iannucci. Was only really making a joke (but would definitely have preferred a less "establishment" figure than EM on this episode).

(I’ve not heard this yet but will).

I’m absolutely sick of journalists and politicians discussing this from their lens like it’s a transfer deadline day and a WhatsApp gossip group - what does it mean for this job, this person. There are a trail of abused women and girls that are an afterthought to this people. I’m so angry about it.

I just want to give him a big Mum hug most of the time.

All I can see is Simons’ resting sad face 😞

Solemn acres is just a great phrase isn’t it?

The glee with which these people are making podcasts and radio shows about themselves is making me properly and actually furious.

I wonder if she'll mention the time she interviewed Andrew?
February 5, 2026 at 10:09 AM
I’m just l google-eyed at the casual “wouldn’t it be funny if this person abused someone?

Er, no.

We had a nice (cold but bright) afternoon yesterday. Still manages to surprise how much better it makes me feel.

We’ve got “feels like -3 and 90% chance of rain” forecasted. Again. Enjoy the sun while you can!
February 5, 2026 at 8:44 AM
“Wouldn’t it be funny if x was in there!”

Er, no.

Enjoying* all the hilarious jokes about who or who isn’t in the Epstein files. Never grow tired of comedy speculation about the abuse of women and girls.

*sarcasm

Such a good example of the ludicrous political class in this country.

It's pretty grim innit. Lots of people feeling grim.

In that I try to - and have to - believe that small things matter, here's the first crocuses in my garden. It's rained every day for ever and been grim up here. But still these little survivors poke through.

We can absolutely hold both these thoughts on our little heads at the same time, you patronising pricks.
February 4, 2026 at 3:36 PM
Why do so many people on social media think we can only hold one thought in our heads at the same time? "Don't be distracted, Farage is still a fascist" etc etc etc

Yes, I'm evolved enough to despise him AND rich entitled scum enabling, facilitating and committing abuse because of love of money.
February 4, 2026 at 3:36 PM
Completely. I’d have said it under any other PM and I don’t see why this is different because my politics and taste are closer to this one.
February 4, 2026 at 1:18 PM
Yes, lovely. You deserve nice things.

Just a happy experience nowadays. Exudes joy, and goodness knows we all need joy in our lives.

Hope all goes well x

I am a fan of both Andy Miller the person and Andy Miller the character and I love the Inventories.

But this is probably my favourite so far. I even had a little weep. And a chuckle. It's really fabulous.

What else can you want from a bit of writing?
I went early or late with the Inventory on Blood & Chocolate by Elvis Costello and the Attractions, but it's Wednesday so here it is one last time. Read it via www.patreon.com/backlisted @backlisted.bsky.social for roughly a 45th of the cost of a ticket to his upcoming Radio Soul! 1977-86 tour.
Oh, Andy Miller, you astonish me. You've always said that it's all one song, and Inventory's evolution is proving you right.

It takes courage to ask questions, publicly, that you don't know the answer to. We're so lucky to be invited along, in almost real time, for this adventure.

Yeah, funny that.
