(sqlite integer primary key starts from 1)
johnchildren.bsky.social
I correctly index from 1, which is where numbers start from
johnchildren.bsky.social
I forgot how nice sqlite and nushell are to work together with when debugging

Might mess around and make a PDS

I mentioned effect systems and was asked for more information instead of a blank stare 😍

The AI videos of dead people talking are just necromancy, a thing already roundly condemned by our society, right? Am I missing something here? Is reconstructing the dead to use as puppets ok now or

The British government is Very Sensible and so can be trusted with the power to decide which protests have happened Enough Now and don't need to be heard from anymore thank you very much. It will be fine. When Reform get in they will be even more Sensible about all this.

Home Office could outright ban protests that risk ‘intimidation’ or ‘serious disruption’
The Home Secretary is considering giving police new powers to ban protests

One difference between me and many people in the 40k universe is that I would simply learn about chaos enough to understand its mysteries and make use of its powers without becoming corrupting myself.

You could probably cut costs a lot by running on dedicated hardware somewhere with a compiled language, but I guess you'd need to be pretty zealous about invites
johnchildren.bsky.social
How expensive would an ATProto relay be if you only served a small number of PDS and aimed for <10k users? I guess there's not much point Vs Mastodon in that case anyway at that scale?

Hadn't heard of DSPy, but it seems interesting from the tagline

Jujutsu is actually very good though and I don't need other people to buy into it to get an advantage from it

"how to avoid ending up like Haskell" has certainly one of the most vexing questions of my career that I've been struggling with since learning Haskell
timkellogg.me
i've seen this effect in a lot of places. a clearly superior technology is repeatedly passed over

- programming languages: Haskell
- databases: Riak
- version control: jujutsu

imo the lesson is to always account for the pressures on the user that they don't tell you about

If 40k content isn't viewable in the UK then that's basically half our GDP gone right there

You do also get more stuff in addition to the meta currencies once you unlock it in the cauldron, but then you have to remember which reward corresponds to more health etc

What counts as an encounter or a location seems a bit confusing to new players as well, particularly with some of the open areas.

I think some fights aren't considered encounters if they aren't associated with a specific reward

Yeah I've had a few runs where I've ended up in the 4th area and still haven't found a good attack boon for a weapon now that you mention it...
johnchildren.bsky.social
Fair, yeah I guess I only really like the skull, none of the other weapons have really stood out to me in H2.

And obviously using omega attacks is then rewarded a bit rather than just spamming dash strike repeatedly...
