Remember when they'd say "judeo-christian" as this stand in? They don't want to include many of the groups under that label anymore.
So many reasons to hate Musk but lumping Irish heritage in with the fucking *English*?????

WHY WERE THE IRISH IN AMERICA, ELON

That sound you hear is the distant wails of generations of Irish ghosts screaming "you fucking gobshite" at the wilted remnants of Elon Musk's ignorant ass soul
Elon Musk, a pro-apartheid South African, may have come here believing the US was a bastion of English-Scots-Irish culture. (By the way, were the Irish welcomed by the English?)

My grandparents and so many others came here because of the promise of freedom, tolerance, equal rights, and opportunity.

Did the whole regime adopt the newspeak of claiming the DJI index is in "dollars" and not points. "One member misspeaks and so must we all."

These are not serious people.

“DHS traps people with serial killer methods” arrives in the news one (1) day after “DHS taunts jailed children with Nazi methods,” for those keeping track
ICE using the same ruse that Ted Bundy used to kidnap people should tell you something.
CCTV footage appears to show DHS agents posing as people having car trouble in order to lure a target out of his house before arresting them. The target comes out and starts helping them before 3 vehicles surround the scene. The car "experiencing" trouble then drives off with them.

Approved ICE tactics against US citizens peacefully protesting against them including discharge of toxic gasses directly into the eyes with a considerable risk of causing blindness. Officers who do this have been assured that they will face no disciplinary action or criminal prosecution.

ICE has completely broken our social contract.

They manipulate social trust and are creating lasting damage to our most basic social foundations

This is a really good video which I would say even if she didn't cite me approximately 230 times...

But seriously, JGL is very wrong about Section 230.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt made a 12-minute response video to people mad at him supporting mass surveillance and censorship, and somehow got even MORE wrong about Section 230 than his original congressional testimony.

Police don’t wear masks. State troopers don’t wear masks. The National Guard doesn’t wear masks. But you know who does?

White supremacists, militia groups, insurrectionists, and ICE.

This post is really taking off. I know the Thanksgiving detail is grabbing, but I would encourage everyone to also read the full article about this family’s struggle at Dilley.

They’ve been locked up for 130+ days.

I spent hours with them on Zoom this week, and their story deserves to be heard.
'Even in Russia, they don't treat children like this': A family's nightmare in ICE detention
A Russian couple and their children sought asylum in the U.S. In a Texas detention center, they say they endured worms in the food and hourslong waits for medicine.

On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

There should be a case in every district asking for these conditions at all locations in the district by the end of the day tomorrow. Just because we can't have nationwide injunctions doesn't mean we can't ask for them.
Incredibly powerful opinion chronicling the awfulness in Whipple and the ways it interfered with the right to counsel.

One key part of the ruling (that ICE will likely appeal ASAP); Judge Brasel bars ICE from transferring anyone out of Minnesota within 72 hours of arrest.

American Samoans occupy a strange in-between as U.S. nationals but not citizens. They pay taxes, have Social Security numbers, and can join the military—but they can’t vote. A voter fraud case in Alaska highlights their unusual predicament.
Americans by Name, Punished for Believing It
In a small Alaska town, American Samoans face prosecution for voting in the only country they’ve ever known. They live in a limbo, created by colonial expansion, that now confuses even public officials—and has made them a new target for policing voter fraud.

This is actually an ESSENTIAL articulation of this admin’s immigration policy.

Policymaking is about weighing equities. In normal policymaking, the rights of the people you’re going after count as an equity. It appears for all the world that this administration’s decisionmaking simply ignores them.
BREAKING: Judge Nancy Brasel, a Trump appointee, has issued a TRO in the Minnesota access-to-counsel case about treatment at Whipple.

And the doxxing? It hasn't actually happened even once.

My *guess* here is that he's trying to claim (obtusely) they only take pictures of people who they *think* violate 18USC 111 and as such he's not lying to her. But that's clearly a misinterpretation of 18USC111 and should be considered lying.
SLOTKIN: So the fact we have ICE agents saying out loud to people they're trying to arrest that 'we're gonna put you in a database,' they are making that up?
