@drrjwarren.bsky.social but maybe you follow this one
This weird and wonderful Greek amphoriskos (flask) depicts a bird-man, but the explanation is astonishing. It almost certainly relates to Aristophanes' famous comedy 'The Birds' (first produced 415/414 BCE) and may represent a costume worn by members of the chorus. 🏺 #ancientbluesky

Enjoy and marvel
I’ve been working on a commission today. As I paint I think back to my school days Repeatedly told how stupid I was & that I would amount to nothing
There were a lot of cruel things said in school, by people who shouldn’t have been teachers. I have spent my time trying to be more hare, less teacher

My January moth challenge stats: 1/1!
Worse than last year… the weather has been just awful here so my challenge has morphed into this WiP- something I’m very unlikely to see irl, the Silver-striped Hawk Moth! #teammoth #SciArt #HawkMoths

Listen
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

And England will surely follow? If there is justice @hannahbournetaylor.bsky.social will succeed, so much energy has been expended.

#TeamMoth tallies for 2025

Allotment 164 of 47 species 9 NFG

Home 143 of 42 species 19 NFG

A fairly "wild" allotment site in a city park versus 16m2 of back yard in the terraces - been a funny year.

I know many of you catch more than the combined annual total in one night

Thanks 4 ID help

Any thoughts @marburybirds.bsky.social no where near as dark as yours last night. @mothiduk.bsky.social
#TeamMoth. Just one from last night. I've got to maybe a chestnut? I nearly got a photo of the wings spread but had warmed it too much on my hand. Underwing pale, I think. One of those deep red brick moths that almost goes to engineering brick blue in some lights.
