Tyson...FFS

Yes, it would be great if everyone could eat unprocessed foods...rich people can, poor people largely cannot

I am really tired of this BS where people are taken advantage of (or sell out) by/to Trump or RFK Jr.

Random Bovino-style tear-gassing: Way down

Relentless persecution of immigrants: Unchanged

Thuggish violence against observers: Way up

A simple proposal for federal judges frustrated that Trump Regime isn’t freeing people in response to habeas corpus orders:

Order that DHS bring each individual to court for their habeas hearing. If the judge grants habeas, the petitioner walks out free.

Bonus: huge pre-hearing burden on feds.

Remember when someone was going to leak the outtakes from The Apprentice that showed Trump repeatedly using the N-word and his MAGA base was going to run for the hills?

I’m not sure we’ve properly addressed how profoundly disturbing it is that America can largely shrug at the stashing of human beings in giant warehouses.

Minneapolis is deservedly receiving the bulk of the national attention, but, heads up to people in Philly and the suburbs, ICE is here, disrupting our communities.

I am far from a policy expert, but I have seen enough about law enforcement entities to know what does *not* work. And everything about this thread on the impossibility of "reforming" DHS and ICE is spot on.
So many DHS/ICE "reform" ideas floating around as the budget fight in Congress develops.

From 2010-2014, I helped negotiate & enforce consent decrees relating to racist/violent police agencies across the country as part of the U.S DOJ's Civil Rights Division (RIP!).

Here are my general thoughts.

"I am not white, as you can see."
Read this whole astonishing document. it should be taught as an object lesson in what volunteering to assist a fascist government does to your mind, body, and soul.

If anyone was wondering, the ~23% reduction in ICE agents in Minnesota apparently doesn't include the ones down the street that are lurking, now as I type this, as vulnerable folks are getting their kids to the school bus this morning.

We cannot rest until ICE is gone, entirely.

It’s day 64 of the ICE occupation of MSP.

Today ICE officers once again arrested observers at gunpoint, caused lockdowns of neighborhood schools, and harassed people on the street simply for their skin color.

Nothing has changed, despite the rhetoric from “leaders.”

Floored by this story. A man wrote a pollite email to a federal prosecutor objecting to the deportation of an Afghan seeking asylum. DHS responded with an administrative warrant to get the man's info from Google, then visited his home to intimidate him.

NEW: "The system sucks," or what a federal lawyer's comments really tell us about the Trump admin.

Julie Le's comments are shocking, but they are a problem of the Trump admin’s own making. And it goes way beyond one lawyer new to the Minnesota U.S. Attorney's Office.

note to national Democrats: you can do this too when you have the majority

there is nothing stopping court expansion other than norms that have long since become obsolete in the face of a radical, out of control majority currently enabling a fascist lunatic
The Utah governor just signed a bill to expand his state's supreme court by two seats.

Conservatives have been angry at a series of judicial rulings, including one that safeguarded direct democracy in 2024 & one that struck down their gerrymander. 1st step of their retaliation.
