Hi #EpiSky! I work on theory, stat, & molecular methods of intergenerational, life course, & family health equity (repro/perinatal/peds)

I care about raising & supporting folks who do & care in non-Western/indigenous ways: community, lineage, environment (vs atomistic, ahistorical, self-centered).🙏🏽

In Ireland we probably averted about 500 newborn RSV hospitalizations once nirsevimab was introduced last year (~75% risk reduction). Uptake was > 80%, and that's what's threatened by these cynical safety concerns from the antivaxxers in the US government.

It sounds like the Personal Responsibility Con-Men are back in the limelight again.

I'm actually hopeful that this narrative can't hold the same power as it did in the 90s. The effects of the billionaire-gov deregulatory axis is too clear, prices too high, choices too few, for people to bite.

It's amazing how "AI," which give reductive acontextual summaries and wild generalizations, are supposed to replace skilled technicians and expert educators, but somehow they can't stem the tide of new associate deans, chief executives, and external consultants...

Huh. Funny that.

Timely: Did Americans vote in 2024 for major changes to vaccine policy? No.

Only 3% picked vaccines as a top 3 issue in the election.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary data, and the same goes for counterclaims.

There's insufficient data for 2020+ to say whether secular trends will last. But secular trends are not inconsistent with ⬇️ "very happy" with ⬆️ smart phone uptake. But also maybe happiness was a millennial blip...

DISCUSS SUICIDE WITH CHATGPT

what the fuck are we DOING here
Panera’s moderately caffeinated lemonade was loosely associated with 2 deaths before it was taken off market.

This article alone has 4 examples of ChatGPT encouraging young people to commit suicide, and OpenAI’s own public stats estimate over a million users discuss suicide with ChatGPT each week.
I fully believe in the corporate death penalty and believe we would be a better world if OpenAI lost its corporate charter and was forcibly dissolved.

Ocoee's entire Black community was exiled. No Black American moved back in until 1980

When there is a random way to do something, there is a less random way that is better but requires more thought. In this case, regression models that make no sense don't belong in a multiverse analysis. An inferential regression without a causal justification is like an opinion without reasons.

Alejandra is not overselling this. This executive order, if weaponized by a lawless administration like Trump, could lead to the dismantling of institutional/nonprofit opposition to Trump.

It can also be used for surveillance and disruption ops similar to the civil rights era and red scare.

These days, no matter how small the gathering outside the prison, people will be subject to police investigations and risk criminal prosecution.
