Wake up. Make breakfast. Do email. Watch a murder. Go to a party for a 5 year old. Laugh with my daughter. See a different angle of that murder. Hear govt officials slander the victim. Play Barbies with my kid. Feed her dinner. Tear up at that victim reading last honors to a vet. Put kid to bed. USA

A few of the more striking ones from this week.

When France seized a sanctioned tanker yesterday, it wasn’t enough to grab social media content. Using SWNS ensures proper rights — and help from French contacts meant I got this out fast, with photos not yet online.

Our agency covered pretty much every single repatriation that went through Wootton Bassett. At one stage in 2009 it was virtually weekly, each time a different set of parents, wives, children weeping at the roadside for their loved one who was lost in a foreign land. We won't forget their sacrifice.

Are we all cool with the police/CPS not releasing footage for contemporaneous reporting so they can licensing it to Netflix years later? www.cps.gov.uk/publication/...

Top three stories on the BBC website. Brits have got to wake up, or be shaken out of their torpor, pretty damn quick. They seem to have no idea how bad this could go.

I hear so much like this on here. First the press/msm isn't one organisation. Second, unlike social media the msm is highly accountable and regulated. Third the msm media do frequently tell people what the police are saying - this is different from saying that the police account is what happened.

Happy Winter Solstice!

Beer can, pinhole camera photos of the Summer to Winter Solstice (2024) and the Winter to Summer Solstice (2025).

You never know quite what you're going to get with these photos, set the beer can pointing towards the sun at hopefully the correct angle and wait 6 months!

I took this picture in 2005 at which point there were a few hundred satellites in orbit. 20 years later there are over ten thousand. Never again can we enjoy the night sky free from the intrusion of modern tech as every single human ancestor before us has done.

En solo 15 minutos de adquisición, contamos 1659 trazas de satélites (unos 400 individuales).

Trump has never been convicted of corruption so there's no privilege - you want to make this statement you have to be able to prove in a court of law that you are correct. Rutger isn't been censored he's been shown how the law works.
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Having carefully calculated that there is absolutely nothing in the budget, floated, mooted or recommended that isn't going to hit me (rightly, though less rightly for some options) I'd just like the love shared a bit so real money got raised and the country visibly got better as a result.

I've been getting back into the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series after many years, and the most relatable part is how everyday objects like doors and elevators have been imbued with artificial intelligence and it just makes them obnoxious and frustrating to use and everyone hates it.
