there was nothing like this when I came out. or at least I don't think there was. trans culture is so bright and beautiful and it is as amazing as it is horrifying to see that we share experiences with people we've never even met. and I am glad there are those better able to convey them than I am

I guess decently large userbase isn't exactly an objective statement. My experience is that I can do like 50% of my DMs on there presently, which is an amazing amount and although it's flawed, it serves as a great baseline.

Stuff like Briar and Cwtch improve on this for sure. Signal's initial USP was seamless transition from SMS to E2EE chat. They can't anymore, but what they still have is a strong UX, trusted encryption methods and a decently large userbase. Telegram, Element, Briar, none of them have all that.
