This is such a hit job of an interview www.tarapalmeri.com/p/congressio...
It's pretty funny that she trimmed the clip to omit her last hard-hitting question: Is Kat is concerned that being sentenced to 6 to 8 years in prison could get in the way of her serving in Congress?

call me crazy but i think inviting someone under federal indictment to an interview, peppering them with questions about the indictment that you know they can’t answer until you cause them to leave, then calling it a “Katie Porter moment” is not good journalism
I just had a Katie Porter moment with congressional candidate Kat Abughazaleh. The interview lasted 3 minutes.

I know this person is on Gmail because their org doesn't have domain email. It's a Gmail address.
But @dyl057.bsky.social I have been assured there's *no reason*

Note: This is me — I asked this question.

You’ll hear me say “yes you have” here — because Johnson was already *directly asked* about one of these instances (when the Presbyterian minister was shot in the head with a pepper ball) in one of earlier shutdown press conferences.
Q: Just last week a minister was shot directly in the face with a pepper round by a DHS agent that left his face bloodied. Are you concerned that this is a religious freedom issue?

MIKE JOHNSON: I can't comment on any of those instances. I haven't seen or heard any of those videos

My main thought is this: if you want to put out canned goods and shelf-stable foods this halloween in light of the horrifically cruel decision to withhold SNAP benefits, you should also have a big old bowl of candy or else you'll probably end up with a green bean can being thrown through your window
*this person is chronic about this, too

Standalone funding for SNAP and WIC meant they could still argue (and lie) about whether emergency Medicaid funds should be used to save people’s lives.

Republicans specifically do not want SNAP and WIC to be funded. The message couldn’t be clearer.
BREAKING: Democrats just tried to pass a standalone bill to fund WIC & SNAP to make sure families don't go hungry during the Republican shutdown.

Republicans BLOCKED it. So Trump won't use emergency funds to keep SNAP running, and Republicans won't let any bills pass. Shameful.
I really wish some people in my life would use their Gmail search functions. I don't want to "per my last email" them, but beloved babe of God my last email from a month ago answered the question

I will tolerate exactly ZERO complaints that not supporting Gavin Newsom is equivalent to voting for Trump (or whoever). There is plenty of time to prevent that problem from happening, and if you aren't working now to fix it, then that means you just want a cudgel you can use against queers.

In two years, when Gavin Newsome is leading in the primary polls, and liberals are yelling at queers who criticize or even refuse to support him, remember that THEY are the ones who had years to put forth a better alternative and CHOSE not to.
Just reiterating that I will not be voting for this man and anyone who finds that distressing has years to push Dems into choosing a good nominee instead.

putting federal prosecutors on leave bc their court filing mentioned January 6 as proof that the dude who showed up at Obama's house armed to the teeth had a history of political violence is already wild

going back and REfiling w/o the no-no words is outrageous!

I just really can’t wait to see how the baptistry turns out.

One of my favorite things about the place — a small one but still — is that there are chairs in the sacristy!

So, I asked my Echo to play Fur Elise and it for some bizarre reason defaulted to:
(A) an “ABC Nursery Rhymes” version from an album called “Classical Baby,” which nevertheless
(B) is the most cursed, horror-movie sounding rendition of the piece I’ve ever heard.

The person who oversees healthcare coverage for more than 160 million Americans is lying about healthcare coverage
Q: Unless ACA subsidies are extended, the average plan will increase by somewhere around 115%

DR OZ: Where'd you get that number?

Q: Kaiser Family Foundation

OZ: They retracted that. Here's the truth. The average American who's on ACA is gonna pay $13 more than this year. That's not a big issue

But his assertion that diversity weakens unions ignores two things. First, labor unions have a long history of multiethnic coalitions. Second, it was the capitalists and political elites who tried to *exploit* ethnic divisions to maintain power. There is only one person here trying to stop unions:

You in fact can't talk about the history of the labor movement without talking about multi-ethnic coalitions. The International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union was initially composed of Jewish and Italian immigrants, but later grew to Black, Puerto Rican, Chinese, and Filipino workers.

Labor organizers formed a multi-ethnic committee and translated organizing materials into 25 different languages. They marched outside to demand better pay, but instead of meeting their demands, mill owners turned on their fire hoses. City officials called in the local militia to break up marchers
