A Barbie doll costs about $10. If you were one of these mysterious people buying your kids 37 dolls .... annually? ..... and you cut back to one, that would leave you with $360 or $30 a month toward your newly doubled health insurance premiums.

Oops! I forgot all the pencil savings: $31.

When you go see your doctor, your care shouldn’t be overruled by an algorithm.

Several major Medicare (dis)Advantage providers—privatized for-profit corporations like UnitedHealthcare, Humana, and CVS—have already started using AI in their prior authorization processes.

Amazon's Ring rolls out controversial, AI-powered facial-recognition feature to video doorbells | TechCrunch
The feature lets you identify the people who regularly come to your door by creating a catalog of up to 50 faces. The company says the Ring feature is opt in and the biometric data isn't used to train AI models.

"Everyone had stories of being watched." This piece on Israeli surveillance in Gaza by @mohamhawish.bsky.social is one of the best pieces of reporting I have read recently.

Sadly I associate Gaza with the constant buzz of drones, but the world needs to understand how deep the surveillance goes.

Right now, this is likely hallucination. Just wait until we get intentional revisionism.
The university bought Claude AI for students to use.

Here it is at work, denying that the East Wing of the White House has been demolished.

Great stuff, academia.

Wrong question. If there's been sufficient camera coverage for photogrammetry (!!) and abundant license plate readers keeping a history of plates' locations, how long until these techniques are used to harass people accused of previously legal activities and misdemeanors -- if they are not already.

Saw this amazing video about Karl Marx's Theory Of Alienation, in capitalism, and I thought I'd share it here. It's important that working class people understand this theory. Everything the capitalist ruling class does, they do for a reason. And it's ALWAYS only for profit, power, and exploitation.

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service
