Welcome to the world of grey areas, where it's becoming increasingly difficult to differentiate between good and bad. I don't trust either side. Having said that, many Venezuelans living in the U.S. voted for Trump, hoping he'd do exactly what he's doing right now and hopefully "finish the job".
juanrojodesign.bsky.social
These are the exact same factors that give rise to populist charlatans just waiting to exploit voters' desperation. PP came close, but once Trump went full fascist, Canadians recoiled in horror. It might not happen a second time, unless some serious systemic issues are addressed, soon!

For the record, I knew Cheetolini was bad news from the moment he came down that escalator to announce his candidacy. He's just another side of the coin to Chavez' so-called "social revolution of the 21st century", which ended up being no different than the gravy train Trump has set up for himself

Never mind that they were torching the democracy of the country they are currently living in. I've learned the hard way that in the world of geopolitics, it's hard to tell apart the good guys from the bad ones. (2/2)

As a Venezuelan, I can honestly say I'm not surprised. It's also the reason why a whole lot of Venezuelans living in the U.S. voted for the orange clown. They wanted what Trump is doing, which is bringing terror to the shores of the regime (1/2).

So this is is where these nutjobs draw the line? Let's see how long before they change their tune. They know they can't quit the grift, that's all they have going for them.

I’m sorry, what??!! I guess the entire country is up for sale now.

His business acumen speaks for itself, nothing but bankruptcies. The Apprentice gave him a lifeline he didn’t deserve and enough Americans bought into his entirety made up mythology. However, as bad as that man is, he’s also the worst possible symptom of an ailing society.

Yes, that man has never known a day of struggle in his entire useless life. He's the "Exhibit A" of mediocre white men getting away with murder because of their wealth. It's going to take an enormous amount of courage and resolve to push back and I don't see any MALE Dem leaders exhibiting that.
juanrojodesign.bsky.social
Oh, it very much is. Mark my words, the leader of the resistance in the U.S. is going to be a woman. In Venezuela, all the male opposition leaders crumbled or eventually switched sides to retain their positions. Not Maria Corina, she never wavered.

That was my comment on my FB page this morning when I read the news: "Awarded to someone who for the past 20 years has been actively fighting an authoritarian regime, at great personal cost. Sounds familiar? If it doesn’t, just give it another 3 years."
juanrojodesign.bsky.social
Trump not getting it is great. Even better? Is being awarded to a courageous Venezuelan woman, fighting against an authoritarian regime. I mean, come on! 👏😂

The Nobel Peace Prize 2025 has been awarded to Venezuelan democracy activist María Corina Machado.

The Nobel Committee recognised her “struggle to achieve a just & peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.”

In other words, exactly the opposite of what Trump is doing to the United States.

The whole system needs to be overhauled, whether people want to or not. You have witnessed just how easy it was to rig the previous/current one against its constituents. Having said that, welcome to the club of failed democracies. Don’t feel bad, it’s a big club!
juanrojodesign.bsky.social
All these thugs are going to get what’s coming to them. Maybe not for a while, but people don’t forget shit like this.
juanrojodesign.bsky.social
From someone who's lived through one, BINGO! You are right in your assertion of people not quite getting what's happening. That's normal for a populace that's never experienced anything similar (at least not in real time, being done to them). Democracy as you knew it, is gone.
juanrojodesign.bsky.social
Oh, they've been there for a while! The orange buffoon doesn't know it yet (or is not paying attention to anyone), but if he starts anything, American troops are going to find themselves in another proxy war, à la Vietnam.
juanrojodesign.bsky.social
I agree, political upheaval is never ideal. As you said, the next few weeks will paint a clearer picture so fingers crossed that it doesn’t come to that.

I was at the Venezuelan protest that got Hugo Chavez out of power (unfortunately, it was a very short-lived victory). Unfortunately, a lot of people didn't make it home that day. We were shot at by snipers and supporters of the regime. We didn't know we were going to be used as cannon fodder though.

However, I'm going to be brutally honest here. More often than not, bloodshed is the catalyst that propels things to the next level, which is getting the average citizen and in some cases, members of the military to turn on the government. In Nepal, it took (by some estimates) 72 casualties!
juanrojodesign.bsky.social
I'm not going to argue against the validity of protesting, because God knows people need an outlet to feel as if they are pushing back. I'm referring to those who are grounded in reality and are seeing the current regime for what it is. (1/2)

Too little, WAY too late. They can twist themselves in a pretzel all they want, but those a-holes knew what they were getting into. Just like the comics who performed in Saudi Arabia, they just wanted a payday and I guess the alt-right pipeline is better funded.
