FIRE exemplifies how billionaires shape public discussion by funding certain people—who may act in good faith; and are too clever by half—to further an agenda hostile to freedom. Those who knew students shouting down a fascist fuckheads weren't a real threat to speech didn't get the millions....
The moral panic over students using their free speech to express opinions conservatives disagreed with was never a genuine threat to free speech, though.

It was always about suppressing student speech because richer and more powerful people didn't like what they had to say.

For 15 years labor and materials that could have built homes and trains have gone to programming crypto tokens, feeding addictions, data centers, taxis, etc. Vapor-value.
We don't have to speculate about what more housing means: it means that more people can live somewhere. We don't have to speculate about what more and better transit means: it means affordably and reliably being able to commute/get where you're going.

This absolutely unhinged exchange is a lawyer for the Texas AG's office arguing that it's totally fine for there to be bugs crawling around in prison food.
