For those who wonder what a modern postal service could look like, one example is in France, where letter carriers provide check-ins on the elderly for very affordable rates, while completing their routes.

I encourage everyone to read the whole thing

Every day I wake up and I feel fine. Then I sit in my office chair for 20 minutes and my back is fucked for the rest of the day. Then I just repeat that every single day til I die. I love my desk job. 🙃

CBC once again called the Ksi Lisims LNG project “Indigenous-led” on the National last night, despite the fact that it’s 100% American-owned by a Texas shell company, Western LNG.

Yikes!!!!!

Anyway, here’s a very funny video that breaks this down: youtu.be/Lt6Hmp9ndkI?...

Solid oped.
Canada’s ability to maintain independent digital and cultural policies isn’t a “nice to have” to be traded against US protectionist bullying. It’s *the* fundamental test of whether Canada can remain a sovereign country.
If you don’t stand up for those, you’re not standing up for Canada.
Opinion: Canada’s digital sovereignty is crumbling under aggressive U.S. lobbying

N.B. Power 'not alarmed' by power needs of data centres, but wants flexibility?

Sounds like alarm to me. Data centre demand can't be allowed to put supply to other users at risk. Either generate more of their own power or look at wind / batteries from 3rd parties.

Never forget, car dependency is the opposite of freedom.

What’s more “free” than cars, you ask?

Choices.

I’d love to see some keen tech person start a site to crowdsource pictures of groceries & household items so that we can precisely catalogue over time the extent of shrinkflation, skimpflation, & greedflation.

Applies to the local context too…

“If a genie gave #SaintJohn city council three wishes, they’d negotiate down to one, and then wish for something they think JDI might like.”

Quite frankly I think this is a metaphor for all consumers in 2025.

The amount of products that I’ve stopped buying, found reusable replacements for, gone without, and/or now make myself is staggering.
The restaurant where I order my poke bowl changed their ingredients and upped the price. So I get less fresh food, more ultra processed crap, AND I have to pay more for that 🙄

So fine, I bought everything I need to make them now because fuck that shit

Like $25 for a rice bowl like come on

Mark Carney’s Liberals were not elected on a mandate to gut Canada Post, but they’re doing it anyway.

The minister intervened to begin the process, now management has now submitted a restructuring plan *in the middle of collective bargaining* that it refuses to share with Canadians.

Carney’s next book should be called “Value($): Building a better world for very rich people, burning it up for everyone else.” Or: “How I caved to the oil and gas industry, and did it with a smile on my face.”

I watched a horror movie the other day where the power went out and then landline phone stopped working, mid-call no less. People!!! That’s not how that works!!!

I just finished reading The Deficit Myth and I highly do not recommend this book if you want to keep your mental sanity.

You’ll never hear talk about budgets or deficits without breaking into hives or feeling physically unwell ever again.

I feel like my entire life I’ve been seeking a high quality dark chocolate advent calendar, and it still doesn’t exist 😤
Why does every single advent calendar now cost £90 and contain all the things you take home from a hotel room? What are we doing here?

There is nothing optimistic about today's budget. Fuck you if you're not a member of the multi-millionaire class I guess. Our PM talks a big game about "sacrifices" but then cuts taxes on super yachts. 🙄
