nevermind, that was mostly just in regards to designing a specific sound i had in mind for a moment in a song, which i have always been really bad at. the real problem is that i don't do aimless experimental sound design sessions as much as i used to

i've actually gotten worse at sound design over the past few years because all of the techniques have made their way to the back of my mind where i erroneously think that because they are no longer new and exciting to me, they must be nothing special, so i just don't reach for them.
