Happy Friday! Last day of school here before the break. My class is having a hot chocolate party and I'm bringing homemade marshmallows... yum!

A game my late husband and I played was seeing if we could nearly touch one before it retracted.
I am fascinated by tubeworms and take ridiculous quantities of photos of them. These seasonally appropriate Christmas tree worms retract into their tubes quickly at the slightest disturbance so it's good practice to hover motionless while getting the shot. 🦑 #scuba #diving #oceans #coralreef

*finally reads things about rheumatoid arthritis, how wheat flares it up, and how inflammation, heredity & RA are connected to macular degeneration (my Dad went blind from it). *

Oh (many bad, bad words)

Forget dry January, I'm now doing dry Christmas because I suspect that wine etc is fuelling inflammation that's making my joints angry.

Then after I'll have to test that theory to see if it's right, because it takes a few weeks to resolve once things are all ouchy.

Boiled water for my neti pot and it was still too hot when I poured it in and the plastic got all soft and now I feel safe from brain eating parasites but pretty certain I’m gonna be shooting microplastics straight into my thinky meat

Our family always opted out of a lot of Christmas consumerism. There were gifts, but nothing outrageous & often things that were needed. We don't go into debt over it.

Experiences. Family time. Good food. Coziness. You have to work hard to carve out those experiences now.
Christmas consumerism makes me more and more sick every year.

Imagine if everyone donated money spent in the next 2 weeks to the less fortunate instead of satisfying an expectation based on greed and materialism.

My dear Jewish friends, I wish there was a better start to Chanukah this year. I love you and want the best for you. May everyone see the lights of peace and siblinghood.

It has been awhile since I've done an awesome list, so let's go.

Awesome #1: I managed to actually send Christmas cards this year. So many years I have addressed and stamped them, and then never sent them! They made it this time!

Friends. Downtown Chilliwack has new little shops and eating spots that if you haven't been to you are totally missing out!

Disney Plus is weird. I could never find out why I couldn't find Only Murders in the Building, even though my settings were on "R". I thought that meant R and below, like it said. But it filtered out Only Murders and the Taylor Swift docuseries, so I had to change to "MA".

The beauty of living alone is that you can make plans to do things, then decide to have a nap or watch TV instead. It's not like anything is going anywhere, I can bake cookies tomorrow.

Flooding all over the Fraser Valley and more rain on the way. Time to hunker down and watch the Taylor Swift docuseries.

Think I will bake and do laundry today.

Schools closed out here because of all the flooding and road closures. Stay safe BC friends!

Far too young. I loved her books!
Sophie Kinsella, the author behind the popular “Confessions of a Shopaholic,” the million-selling novel about a financial journalist who writes about money matters but fails miserably at managing her own, has died. She was 55.

I hid 100 tiny resin ducks with Santa hats in a friend's classroom. Enlisted two other staff to help. Friend's gr 3s LOVED IT and have been hunting for ducks for days.

How do people deal with chronic pain? It has been bad lately, and I find it hard to want to socialize, do hobbies, or get much done at all.

Finally learning that I can like and have empathy for people, but also have strong boundaries when their behaviour is not okay.

Sometimes you gotta just grit your teeth and force yourself through the week. That has been the case here.

Did the annual ice skating today (I am a good skater, love it) and my ankle/foot joints were so angry I could barely do it. Even just walking in skates off ice was hard.

I'm...a little freaked out.
