Poor husband will rue the day he, in a moment of frustration, said that I withhold information from him. Guess who gets to hear about everything now — including being cc'ed on all the emails and consulted on all decisions? He's not equipped for the deluge of info I have carried for him for years. 🤣

Potato leek is the soup of the day and this recipe is wonderful. I really like the thyme and lemon in it. The bread is still in the oven but I couldn't resist the first bowl of soup!

Anderson Cooper: So it's more expensive to have a chronically homeless person living on the streets than it is to actually subsidize an apartment for them?

Answer: Yes, we’re paying more as taxpayers to walk past that person on the street and do nothing… #HousingFirst

Kiddo was working on something to do with photography this morning and asked me what a "proof" was. I HAVE WAITED OVER TWENTY YEARS FOR THIS EXACT MOMENT 🤣 😜

And now it's Chrétien day at homeschool.

I always use this video to introduce the topic of blatant stereotypes to my classes. I love that these African men publicly challenge and mock Hollywood's portrayal of them because it is ridiculous.

Thayendanegea (Joseph Brant) was one of the most important Indigenous leaders of the late-18th and early-19th centuries.
A gifted diplomat, he spent his life fighting for the right for his people to remain on ancestral lands.
This is his story.

Yesterday, we attended an open house at a private school we are considering for kiddo when he goes from homeschool to high school. I wanted to cry because the program and supports are so beautiful and why can't our public system be that wonderful? Also, I want to work there.

I have a pathological fear of bats and have had more bizarre encounters with bats than anyone I know. I am currently at the Canadian Warplanes Heritage Museum for a field trip and a bat just swooped at me out of nowhere. Same thing happened in Vancouver Airport. Why? Why?

I feel like fewer people would embrace Nazi ideology if they knew their faces would melt off as a natural — or rather, supernatural — consequence of their terrible, hateful choices. 🫠😱

START THE CAR!!! ChatGPT is down due to Cloudflare. Maybe I can quickly get my students to do some reflective writing that is actually theirs instead of having them outsource their own thinking to AI. Wouldn't that be great?!

On this World Prematurity Day, I'm grateful for @drjengunter.bsky.social, whose book about her own journey as a prem parent was my constant companion and guide during the first weeks after my son was born at 25+3. It felt like someone understood what I was facing and was calmly leading the way. 💜

It’s #WorldPrematurityDay

Every year, 15 million babies are born too soon.
Too small. Too early. And far too vulnerable to life-threatening complications.

But with the right care, most preterm and low birth weight babies survive. They can go on to thrive and lead wonderful lives bit.ly/43NzUH8

I loved this article. As someone who has travelled the world, I have often wondered why Canada has settled for being meh when we could be even better. Are we too cautious, too lazy, too short-sighted? I'd love to see us try to do more and be better.

This morning, kiddo spotted two bald eagles perched way up in the trees along the hwy as we drove. He has his grandpa's gift for seeing everything — which is a miracle because he had Stage 4 Retinopathy of Prematurity and we weren't sure just how bad his vision would be. Now he has 20/10 vision. 👁👁
