This let the clerk, who’d already been having a bad day at 8:45 AM, have a nice laugh at my expense. I mean a nice laugh with me, because I was in on the joke. It’s not something I’ll be lying awake reliving tonight instead of falling asleep. Comedy is so important for hope and morale. The End.

I nodded along and added some words of sympathy as I paid for postage on the package I was sending. After I got my receipt, because I’m an expert at physical comedy and for no other reason, I pretended to reach for the package to take it back (as a joke). (Continued)

Today I went to the post office early to get errands out of the way. The customer in front of me was apparently A Problem, because when I got to the counter the clerk was complaining about how she’d tried to tell the clerk how to do her own job etc. (thread)
