Live in Beijing, work in media, ruined my life by rescuing dogs & cats that torment me & ruin my stuff. Coming from the other place to restore sanity. Brexit is almost the worst recent global calamity. I like: trains, travel, sustainable stuff, & geography

"If you see something that doesn't look right, report it to staff or British Transport Police".

Okay then: I'd like to report the entire rail network. That's not right at all.
A paean to privatised public transport.

Today I had to go from Stockport to Salisbury. So I bought a ticket

Stockport > Bristol > Salisbury

The drive to Stockport should have taken 35 minutes. Satnav said it would take 2 hours, and I'd miss my train.

So I went to Macclesfield, where I found...
Enjoyed them all, esp when I was still trapped in China due to Covid. look forward to your return

If you’ve enjoyed my videos over the last few years I’d love to see you at my live shows. My tour starts in a month and sales have been slower than last year - probably partly because I’m not on X anymore. But it’s a fun show and I’d love more people to see it! www.livenation.co.uk/matt-green-t...

I wish they still did the rail + boat pass. Did a great trip all the way to Greece via Brindisi-Patras-Athens-Santorini-Paros-Kos, then Turkey (off pass)- Bodrum, Ephesus, Istanbul - back to pass to go Ist-Thessaloniki & thru train to Munich via Yugoslavia as was-can’t do several of those trains now

Anybody surprised?

Emissions from 14 fossil fuel giants drove 213 major heatwaves since 2000, making >50 deadly ones 10,000× more likely and adding up to +2.2°C increased intensity

All while knowing the impact of GHG emissions

Corporate negligence =Human cost

Carbon emissions from oil giants directly linked to dozens of deadly heatwaves for first time
Study shows how individual fossil fuel companies are making previously impossible heatwaves happen and could have to pay compensation

Cities need smart, specific strategies to manage vehicle size.

It’s about space & safety.

Yes. I have noticed there are far fewer of those guys around at night who drive cars home for drinkers. But there are long lines at places like trendy bakeries.
Had a big fight with this woman who dumped this 3-month kitten in tiny cage behind a fancy spa since last Thurs in temps often well above 30C. She claimed it’s a stray, but she knew nothing about dealing with strays. She agreed in the end to let me take it to the vet hosp opposite.
Yeah -it’s unbearable. I think it’s becoming quite unlivable. And they still had workers outside doing construction at my place.
Yes - i chat to her from time to time about things Hungarian! Was going to add that I think the meaning has shifted a bit from ppl just dropping out in general to this rat race definition. Not sure how it happened!
‘Experts’ have been using it for a while now, one guy claims to have invented it in the current form. Govt use is def more recent, esp being mentioned in quite of lot of briefings. I hate the word

Private equity and the crushing cost of UK vets’ bills.

60% of local vets taken over by corporates.

Usual story -price hikes, debt, profiteering.

Drugs prices up to eight times the online prices. Profit margins of up to 43%.

How many pets will suffer?

Last page. Guess i wanted to use all the days
Including Le train Jaune from Perpignan
This was the 3rd #interrail I did, while doing a term abroad in Montpellier, France. Look - a night train from #Madrid to #Lisbon. I forgot you wrote it in yourself.
It’s too tense…
Was just explaining about your adventures to my friend as we were coming back to Newhaven on the ferry from Dieppe after a couple of days in Rouen - not done the crossing since my interrailing days. It’s a shame the timings don’t really work for daytrips now.

Since 2010, we have lost:

279 school playing fields
750 youth centres
793 playgrounds
800 libraries
1,086 swimming pools
1,416 Sure Start children’s centres

No wonder children have nowhere to go

When did you ever hear the BBC stating that it must alter “story selection” and “other types of output, such as drama”, to win the trust of Green voters, or of unrepresented people on the left?
All the shifts are in just one direction.

You wouldn't know it from today's newspaper front pages screaming "betrayal", but new YouGov polling finds that 66% of British people now want the Government to deliver a closer relationship with the EU, compared to just 14% who don't

Can there be any more irresponsible practice than burning carbon rich peat moors to make sure they remain clear for the ultra rich to play at being country folk as they shoot captive bred animals for sport.
Today, on the the day of the great (or not so great?) #Brexitreset, I have my own Brexit reset - I’m back in the EU!
