I, too, have a snow crow from today. Photo taken by my son, who promptly sent it to me because he knew it'd make me happy!

The Dictionary Story by Oliver Jeffers and Sam Winston does meta-fiction really well, playing to those of us who love words but also silliness.

The Digger books by Joseph Kuefler are some of my favorite picture books of all-time. Read the most recent one The Digger and the Christmas Tree. A solid addition to the series that made my 8-year-old want to revisit the others.

Next up is a reread of The Leaf Thief by Alice Hemming and Nicola Slater.

Fall is my favorite aesthetic, and the illustrations here do not disappoint. This book does a nice job of characterizing the squirrel and has some interesting back matter.

1. Did you know that Girl Scouts has, for a long time, accepted trans girls and nonbinary scouts?

Trans kids are under attack. Every year, I make a thread of trans and nonbinary girl scouts you can get your cookies from.

Lets get our cookies from them this year in solidarity!
2026 Trans Girl Scouts To Order Cookies From!
This year, consider ordering your Girl Scout cookies from a trans girl scout to make their day!

It is time to eradicate AI from all educational environments. Find another way. Maybe teach kids about AI like when we learned about drugs in middle school.

“The risks of AI outweigh the benefits” - new report about AI in elementary schools.
The risks of AI in schools outweigh the benefits, report says
A new report warns that AI poses a serious threat to children's cognitive development and emotional well-being.

I've been deep in editing mode for awhile. Today, I have one scene that I'm dividing into two and expanding upon, so I have some actual writing to do.

And, wow, does it feel hard to switch back into writing mode back!

Snail Crossing by Corey R. Tabor is another favorite in our house. It's funny and charming, and I love the way the pictures tell the story along with the text.

Kevin Henkes is one of my 8-year-old's favorite authors, so we read a lot of books. Today was one he wrote and illustrated: Kitten's First Full Moon.

I can see why it's a a Caldecott Medal winner with how evocative the illustrations are.
