Regardless whether the denial is truthful (unofficial channels could be used for deniability), I think that Japanese government may be more willing than other countries to curb gen AI’s IP infringement for one simple reason:

*Content* is Japan’s 2nd largest export, behind only *automotive*.

PSA (you'll find this later in the same thread): According to a company tweet, Nintendo are not lobbying the Japanese govt. RE: this IP violation via OpenAI's Sora. They're pursuing legal action due to IP violation, which is still a welcome use of that, but govt. lobbying is not involved.
