The problem with fetishizing the rule of law is that people have to break the law to resist fascism, state violence, and oppression. This has always been true, and is very much the case RIGHT NOW.

This is a great thread from a great organizer who just chose PDX for her only in-person book tour stop 😍
I feel like the fractures we are seeing in the MAGA coalition have some people hoping the status quo will simply make a roaring comeback, and judicial consequences will simply engulf all of the bad guys. There's really no precedent that supports that expectation.

A beautiful resistance story from Minneapolis ❤️‍🔥
“They take out a lot of people that look like me and they put them in cages,” Isa Lopez said, “whether it be prisons, whether it be detention centers. It is the limiting of life. It’s the fact that we do not have the permission to grow. And that is a violation to life itself.”

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.

The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.

Heartbreaking. Directly impacted people trying so damn hard to come up with solutions are utterly disempowered time and again.
Nearly 30 people were forcibly removed from the Thousand Acres recreation area last month, after living unhoused on the public land for years.

Now, they face instability as they try to survive on the streets in the same system that drove them to seek refuge in the wilderness.

Family separations are back, only now they are happening all across the country. The lawsuit against the zero tolerance policy in 2023 limited separations at the border, but does not address those that occur inside the country after encounters with ICE.
