‘Are you impervious to everything?!’ - man who had just kicked me in the leg.

‘The Whore of Babylon’ - man who was about to shatter his cane against my arm.

‘Nice boobies’ - guess what it’s some man.

My employer shares none of my views.
I would like to understand what exactly a physiological change means in this context. Because it feels excitingly close to the definitively unlawful position that legal recognition demands prior castration.
if a panel of cis people rules that your dick is small enough and your boss finds you fuckable enough you can MAYBE piss at work, but as soon as someone calls you a slur then you cannot piss at work.

yep yeah that makes sense

It Is Journalism’s Sacred Duty To Endanger The Lives Of As Many Trans People As Possible

My thread earlier focused on the discussion re. FWS - but I just want to draw this out really explicitly:

The press absolutely monstered Dr Beth Upton in the most appalling way – only for the Tribunal to find that Beth had done nothing wrong, but that Sandie Peggie had harassed her.
Also worth noting, the Tribunal found that Sandie Peggie had harassed Dr Beth Upton in a "hate incident".

I got really good at Sekiro for a while there. Not in the sense that I could go charmless or turn on the demon bell or anything, but I beat Isshin Sword Saint on NG+2.
What skill did you master that you will never, ever use again?

Archival research feels like it’s full of these, but then there’s always one throwback archive with a microfiche machine or a paper catalogue (or, indeed: NARA)
What skill did you master that you will never, ever use again?

Summer of '95 I had a job assembling single-use film cameras, which I did enough that I can still perform the actions. I don't think they even sell them anymore, but even if they do I'm certainly never going to be making them again!

You shouldn’t be a trade union colleague of mine, lest I corner you in a pub and give you a potted history of trans legal recognition, 1874-2025.

Boris Johnson's slurs are one thing. Keir Starmer overseeing the introduction of a new Section 28 in schools for trans and non-binary people, supporting segregation and backing Wes Streeting as he drives kids to suicide after stripping them of their healthcare is on a whole other level.
i hate it when i mention how bigoted keir starmer is and someone is like 'huh? are you forgetting that boris johnson called gay men bum boys?!'.

no. i haven't forgotten that. that's nothing compared to the shit keir starmer has done.

Film 266 of 2025: Holiday Affair

The mum and the kid are great together, but none of the other relationships worked for me.
A ★★★ review of Holiday Affair (1949)
Shares with Miracle on 34th Street the plot point of a kid raised by a single mum and who, as a result, is a little adult with no childhood and no dreams. But despite how tropey it is, the characteris...

The venn diagram of transphobia and other bigotries remains a circle.
Kishwer Falkner, the former EHRC chair, is on Sky saying the Labour government is anti-women, citing not just trans issues but also grooming gangs and what she calls pandering to Islam and racial sensitivities. She's not exactly dispelling the idea she was a political actor when she led the EHRC.

Impossible to watch this without recalling Ari Aster saying he was traumatised by his grandma showing him this as a child.

I think Sophie’s probably out running now. A marathon is a truly ridiculous thing to put your body through so your friends can get the healthcare they need. Can we find the extra £100 needed to hit the target by the time she finishes?

It couldn't be more obvious what happened with the EHRC. Liz Truss stacked it with open bigots like Falkner for the purpose of producing transphobic guidance. It started under the Tories and Labour has let it continue.

I am feeling feelings about how hard I am working, the associated personal costs, and how little I am achieving vis a vis the efforts of various authorities to isolate, flatten, crush trans lives. I understand it is inevitable that no one person achieves very much, but feel sad and tired regardless.

I think Transactual put it best (in reference to the girl guides) and now Labour too:

"There is no problem being solved here, only harm being done."

All to appease the right, who hate them anyway - shame on them.

one of many parallels between anti-vaxxers & those who oppose gender-affirming care: they start by pretending they have a very specific concern (MMR vaccine, puberty blockers, etc), but once given any sway or say on the matter, they quickly strive to eliminate all of it
Kennedy's zombie ACIP panel just voted to restrict hepatitis B vaccine for newborns. Experts say it will harm children for no reason. www.ms.now/news/rfk-cdc...

"'Do no harm' is a moral imperative. We are doing harm by changing this wording. And I vote no."

I’ve gone to a cafe I was recommended in Byker so as not to be rude. I refuse to go to Shields Road because of the high chance I get immediately swarmed by tiny angry people. But having a load of posh places in a literal walled compound in the centre of Byker feels pretty shitty. I don’t like this.

I would just like to put on my serious face for a moment to say it is incredibly distressing to see the Times uncritically printing a claim that I have no rights and am so below human as to no longer even register as a biological entity. I will take my snark off for two seconds to show you my pain.

It is fine to discriminate against non-biological life forms, says Captain Janeway, formerly of the Federation’s equality watchdog but always obviously unsuited for the role owing to the fact she is a fascist.

The Labour Party is literally in government right now. They have a clear majority and could legislate to ensure trans folks are treated according to their gender, and ensure equality law does not fix people to their sex assigned at birth. They actively choose not to — it’s institutional transphobia.
