I'm forgetting how novel it felt. Like *now* I can say "wait, the filmmaking of Suzumiya Haruhi inspired you to watch Death Note? And you *didn't* give up?" but c'mon, where else in 2009 were you gonna get scenes like "I take a potato chip…AND EAT IT!!!!" and lethal journaling montages?

New Misa is a really good sculpt though; a shame I don't actually like Death Note much.
It was one of the first anime I tried (because 2009), and to its credit, I remember it managing to be both unintentionally funny and legitimately compelling episode-to-episode for at least the first parts

He actually drew them himself, Saito loves dolls this much. The process was:
