Every dollar invested in programs that benefit children, like Head Start, yields $10 in societal returns. That’s a 1,000% return on investment.

But now Republicans want to cut these programs — all so billionaires can pay less in taxes.
If you missed our webinar on Monday, exploring the Trump Administration's attacks on Head Start, you can watch the recording here: www.americanprogress.org/events/steal...
Despite attacks to Head Start by the Trump Admin, early care and education remains a bipartisan priority at the state level.

👶🏽 About 1 in 3 children living in poverty are enrolled in #HeadStart.

Rolling back the program doesn’t just harm kids —it also hurts parents & their parents’ ability to work, provide, & build a better future.

It's despicable that Trump is needlessly harming young children living in poverty & their families as a means to his own petty political retaliation efforts
Notably Maine, which Trump has singled out for retribution in other ways, is the only state not to receive ANY Head Start money this year #mepolitics
The Trump administration has been illegally slow-walking Head Start funding awards - and are nearly $1 billion behind where they're supposed to be by now.

At this pace, they're on track to illegally implement a 37% cut to Head Start over a year.

The table below has the loss per state.

Trump has (illegally) completely stopped all Head Start payments to Maine because he's mad at their governor. Evil shit.

Great thread on the threats to Head Start ⤵️
As reported last week & confirmed in OMB's passback, Trump wants to eliminate Head Start.

This move proves that the Admin does not care about children, families, or the highly-skilled educators who care for them. 1/

White House plan would eliminate Head Start, make sweeping health cuts
A leaked plan shows programs like Head Start, some mental health funding and efforts to prevent teen pregnancy could soon end.

Head Start is under attack by the Trump Administration despite its proven track record supporting young children & families.

In a 7-2 decision, SCOTUS upheld an ATF rule regulating untraceable “ghost guns.” This is a big win for public safety after a panel of Trump-appointed judges in 2023 ruled that unserialized firearms built from kits you can order online cannot be regulated like traditional firearms. 🧵

When opponents of the Department of Education say they want to "return education to the states," what they mean is they want to take federal funding without any strings (e.g., civil rights oversight) attached.

Current trends suggest that this this $ would probably used be for more school vouchers.
