This is Trump's "America First" economy—and it's completely tanking.

Another way to look at this data is that since April 2, job losses in the manufacturing sector were the equivalent of closing a factory per day, or 232 factories so far this year. Trump's Tariffs have been a disaster for US manufacturers
This is Trump's "America First" agenda in action—plummeting jobs and rising costs.

So great to see BLS back to work measuring and informing us about our large and dynamic economy.

It’s a great institution full of dedicated civil servants deeply committed their mission. They have had a tough year, and everyone is covering for someone who left. I thank them all for their service.

We finally have jobs numbers out this morning from September and take a look at this: big jump again in Black women's unemployment, now 7.5% from 6.7% in August.

This figure has been ticking up all year. This is now the highest unemployment rate Black women have faced in 4 years, since mid-2021.

By idealizing an all-White, male workforce, the Labor Department’s campaign doesn’t just distort reality — it echoes a long history of propaganda that centers whiteness & erases the contributions of women & workers of color.

Labor Department social media campaign depicts a White male workforce
The campaign has drawn scrutiny, with critics saying it is not realistically portraying the country’s diversity and is sending messages that feel exclusionary.

Disabled workers employment rates made a lot of headway. But due to premium spikes, many disabled workers will have to make career decisions based on employer based health insurance vs having the flexibility to start self employment or their own business.

New data: CBPP analyzed USDA’s contingency fund spending plan & found it is only going to release 2/3 of the funding they committed to in court filings, cutting families’ SNAP benefits far more than necessary, violating USDA’s own regulations & shortchanging millions of families.
November 5, 2025 at 5:12 PM
The Trump administration's failure to fund SNAP benefits will have devastating impacts on families' budgets and local economies. SNAP supports households getting food on tables, generates 100,000s of jobs, and every dollar returns $1.50 to the local economy.

SNAP Cuts Are Likely To Harm More Than 27,000 Retailers Nationwide
A new analysis shows that 27,000 retailers in areas with the highest shares of SNAP participants would be the most likely to bear the brunt of proposed drastic cuts to food assistance.

If SNAP benefits don’t go out November 1, it’s not because of the shutdown or because SNAP ran out of money.

It’s because the Trump admin is illegally refusing to use the money in the SNAP contingency fund.

The same admin that enacted the largest cuts to SNAP in history.

2026 premiums are posted on HealthCare.gov. I checked out my hometown zip code in Lansing, MI. Someone w/an income less than $2,000/mo who paid $0 for a plan this year would pay $82/mo in 2026. That’s not affordable. Congress needs to act now to extend the PTC enhancements!

The latest #UIClaims show much higher continued unemployment insurance claims for federal workers, up 156% for the week ending October 4—compared to the same week last year. The growth this year are due to federal layoffs, exacerbated this month by workers leaving federal payrolls and the shutdown.
