Palestinian, black, trans lives matter. White people chose DEI instead of adhering to Civil Rights Act altogether. We’re still dealing w/after effects of Reconstruction & longstanding, feckless liberal class unwilling to confront fascists. MMT. Punch up.

a core feature of the conservative movement and by extension, republicans, is predictably cyclical reboots of the brand every 4 to 8 yrs under some newly renamed variation of “new conservatives,” complete with credulous, breathless think pieces by the likes of NYT assisting with the rebrand
Yes of course. 2004 all the way up to and including his confirmation vote in 2025 - the myth of the “reasonable Republican” who we somehow “need”. There’s never been any “there” there

We're gonna need a truth and reconciliation commission and Nuremberg style trials to reckon with all of this evil, and any Dem candidate for office who shies away from a full reckoning in the name of "moving forward as a nation" can get well and truly fucked
I feel much safer today knowing that we deported a Babson College student back to a country where she hasn't lived since childhood.

She wasn't even flying internationally. She was flying to Texas.

Democrats and Labor in UK can’t bring themselves to acknowledge this and say the quiet part out loud, instead seeking to run back neoliberal hits and keep an old system humming along that’s not coming back.
American 'conservatives' lack the cultural, intellectual, and ethical attributes needed to govern a complex, civilized society
NEW from me - NSF cancels grant scheme for social science research.

Seems the NSF quietly archived ALL calls for DDRIG grants in the SBE directorate. This is a massive blow for PhD students wanting to do cutting-edge social science research. 🏺🧪

Rubio was confirmed 99-0
"Rubio told the diplomats to emphasize the effects of criminal acts by immigrants to encourage greater entry restrictions...Diplomats should 'regularly engage host governments...to raise U.S. concerns about violent crimes associated with people of a migration background'"

It's not just that the United States has stopped trying to promote liberal democratic ideas internationally. It's that the United States is actively trying to promote the contrary. It's trying to turn more countries into Hungary.

From the git-go the entire butler assassin ruin attempt was and continues to be majorly sus but our reflex by way of MSM and Dem liberals hellbent on supreme objectivity bc, you know, biased liberal press and what not enforces a weird silence around these moments not commensurate to the evidence

Get ready for more Republican right wing lies and freak out about whatever it is that actually happened here, blame the radical left, antifa, “left wing violence” and in and on it will go while all the usual MSM anchors will dutifullly invite them on repeatedly to lie to millions about it

💯👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽 AND, part of broader context behind them not “dealing w/their shit” is a lack of accountability (over decades at this point) largely driven by Dem Party’s actions & inaction. The primary locus for fascism rests mainly in Repub hands, for sure. But adjacent to that enabling it are feckless Dems!
It’s time for a lot of people to wrestle with the fact that bad actors aren’t doing these things because they’re being blackmailed or bribed but because they are benefitting financially and they haven’t dealt with their own shit so they are perpetually destroying everything.

Yes AND - even the framing of the headline mitigates the Trump’s age and ostensible incompetence and inability to serve effectively in ways that are WAAY more forgiving than they ever did with Biden. It’s obscene the asymmetries in the coverage
The @nytimes.com doing a big, long piece on Trump's obviously deteriorating condition.

If you’re in the minority party & one of the levers of power still afforded to you as the minority party is to still be able to introduce articles of impeachment against Trump—then that is EXACTLY what you should do. There’s no excuse not to. None. @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social @aoc.bsky.social
Which begs question about newly announced fight club in senate:why not immediately call for house colleagues to introduce articles of impeachment? And why haven’t any members ever publicly, vociferously used unanimous consent to stall any & all votes? Why did Rubio pass 99-0 @senategabe.bsky.social
The military has a duty to refuse unlawful orders, but Congress has a duty to remove from office a president and secretary who would issue such orders. There is something off about members of Congress talking about the former while refusing to say the latter, the part that's actually their job here.

Republicans are just cartoonishly evil and simultaneously incompetent at this point, literally picking hills to die on that make no fucking sense while also endangering millions of people. For no fucking apparent reason at all other than either racism or “big bad govt bad”

Related to an earlier post I made about responding to right wing argumentation - what one finds over time is this dynamic whereby bad faith right wing claims grounded in pseudoscience, lies, obfuscations or sophistry about science, will always inevitably be countered by reality, ie empirical evidenc

Doubtless it will be ignored by Simonoff et al, who are not even measuring this in the “Pathways” study.

Surprise surprise The liberal members of the court respect stare decisis even when they disagree but the conservatives don’t - yet the liberals are the “activist” side. Messaging and framing matters. The courts ARE political entities but are treated by Dems and MSM as if they’re not
Sotomayor says she won't overturn Feres because of stare decisis, but urges Congress to repeal it by statute. Gorsuch would take up this case but doesn't write. Interesting split. Unfortunate result for service members. www.supremecourt.gov/orders/court...

People with the emotional maturity and empathy of mean middle school bullies are in charge of most of the shit around us and that we rely on.
