This is a metaphorical slow motion train wreck for the housing industry. The insurance and reinsurance industries have been on it since the 1990’s. We have arrived at the pointy end of the problem.

Like I've said before, if you have any doubts about climate change, just go to a super-boring insurance conference and listen to the super-boring panels where they dryly talk about the growing threat of disasters so catastrophic and unpredictable in scope they simply cannot be insured at any price.

Very enjoyable thread. Needs more Aussie.
I'm going to reproduce a saucy thread I did some years ago in the other place. It is divisive and produces many odd statements and flushes out parochial opinions.

Yesterday the President fell asleep, yet again, during a televised fake Cabinet meeting staged so that each of his courtiers could heap praise on him, praise for which he couldn't stay conscious. He woke up just long enough to spew racism. Why is this not being treated as an emergency? >

All the UK pissing and moaning about Meghan Markle’s show intrigued me so I watched it. It’s cute, just fine, and I’m going to try a couple of her recipes.
What is it’s about her that drives those pasty snaggletooths mad?

Trump: "It’s a hellhole right now. And those Somalians should be out of here. They've destroyed our country. And all they do is complain, complain, complain. You have her. She’s always talking about the Constitution provides me with – go back to your own country and figure out your constitution."

Worthless.
Jeffries: "The border is secure. That's a good thing. It happened on his watch. He wants to claim credit for it, of course he'll get credit for that. In terms of making sure that we actually deal with the issues that matter, including on immigration, there's a lot that's left to be desired."

NEW: The commutation Trump issued to David Gentile wipes away all further fines & restitution.

Gentile had been sentenced to 7 years for his role in a $1.6B scheme that defrauded thousands of investors.

Prosecutors had been seeking $15.5M in forfeiture.

Pete Hegseth Should Be Charged With Murder

NEW: Jim Jordan and House GOPers refused to let the American public hear directly from Jack Smith, per his attorney.

When we downsized this summer we did not install a TV on the first floor. We converted an “exercise room” into our sleeping room & the primary bedroom into a cozy den for TV watching. Next summer our guest room is getting a sofa-sleeper & will be a den/TV/reading room.
