One of the biggest drivers of high housing costs is that a small, highly motivated group of incumbent homeowners block new housing in their neighborhoods and almost no one is organized to push back.

The question is: WHO controls it & for what purpose?

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

I'm fascinated by how Google has spruced up its search engine. Making everything AI has really optimised the user experience so that nothing works and the suggestions it makes are utterly useless. Really enjoying this new tech trend.

Despite Ezra Klein making a big stink previously about how this broadband grant program hadn't delivered yet, I haven't heard him revisit his criticisms now that MAGA has completely hijacked the plan and redirected huge swaths of funds to a white supremacist. Which is not, you know, abundance.
