If you are checking LLM-extruded drivel against a real source anyway, why not just use that source? Why not skip the LLM part entirely?

(it's because in practice, no one actually checks; these things are designed to discourage you from going "off tool")
AI Chatbots Discourage Error Checking
AI hallucinations threaten the usefulness of LLM-generated text in professional environments, but today’s LLMs encourage users to take outputs at face value.

This is so ridiculous.

If movie studios were to start using AI actors to star in movies, why would they "hire" someone else's creation?

Nobody will want "Tilly Norwood" if they can make their own AI actor and not have to pay them.
Eline Van der Velden, the creator of Tilly Norwood, chats about the AI actress’s future: "[We’re] talking to producers and quite well-known companies about creating AI projects that Tilly could star in." bit.ly/4icy5d5

This song easily sounds like it could have come from The Boys series, as a song Vought produced for a teen girl supe line-up.
It belongs in heavy-handed satire, but unfortunately I think that wasn't the intention
Someone found an mp3 of the creepy "Jailbait" song Olivia Nuzzi released when she was 16 🫣

Every dollar that the Feds refuse to spend on their primary health, aged care and NDIS responsibilities leads to somewhere between $1.40 and $7.50 of expenditure required in the hospital system because of that $1.00 decision, depending upon the hospital. This is not new. We already know this.

Anyone else noticed how Nazi rallies get the go-ahead fairly easily from state governments, then the horrified public reaction is weaponised to pass anti-protest laws, which are then used to quash anti-genocide dissent and justify police assaults on small brown women? You picking up on this, too??

also, there are plenty of text to speech tools that just record and don't analyze and they've existed for nearly my entire life. we've got to stop allowing people to conflate direct, non-generative tools with genAI when they have a financial incentive to do so

we should not be letting any company get away with blaming AI for their failures. I'm not even sure how we got to this point. people are like "it's just a tool" okay so is a forklift and we still hold somebody responsible when it goes wrong and hurts someone. this is YOUR AI!

So you want my deaf ass to talk and *listen* to control the PC? Yeah no.

I’m all for it as an accessibility thing. But a primary method of computing? Nope. Not with LLMs anyway. We’re nowhere near Star Trek computers.
