Subway fare increases to $3 in January. I’m sorry, but traveling roundtrip ($6) around 1-5 miles on a train should not cost more than 2 gallons of gas for a car. Do better, MTA. Service hasn’t improved. Any time it rains, it floods horrendously. It takes a whole year to install an escalator. WTF.

I feel like I’m the only person who watches Loot. But I’m catching up on yesterday’s episode and appreciate that it is both making me laugh out loud and actively promoting the boycott of billionaires.

I think I’ve gotten 20-30 Giving Tuesday emails today so far and it’s just past 9am. If billionaires/rich folks paid their fair share of taxes or were more philanthropic, these organizations wouldn’t have to reach out to those of us who live paycheck to paycheck, already trying to afford to live.

Stranger Things S5 P1 not dropping until 8pm on the 26th is rude. It’s *streaming*. Drop that shit at midnight so people can start watching that day at their leisure.

I’ve had a grown man point at me, get in my face, call me the c-word, and threaten to “throw [me] down the fucking stairs” in a crowded movie theater (because I asked him not to light his cigarette in there) and no one said anything

This president has normalized this gross behavior. It’s gotta stop

I’ve been thinking and it’s kind of exceptional that not a single person said “Hey now” after the piggy comment.

Just got back from a screening of Brendan Fraser’s new movie, Rental Family. Holy heck, is this the kind of movie we need right now. So full of heart. A lovely punch to the feels.

Watching Freakier Friday.

Why is Manny Jacinto not at the top of the list for every new rom-com?

He should be in all the things. All. The. Things.

I was 15 the first time I got molested. Freshman in high school. A minor. Couldn’t see a Rated R movie by myself. Couldn’t vote yet.

It makes me crawl out of my skin to hear her make excuses for a grownup harming a minor. Hurting a 15-yr-old instead of a 5-yr-old does not earn you a badge of honor.
"don't worry, he's just into 15-year-olds" perhaps not as exculpatory as you think
Also 15-year-olds are not "barely legal." They are minors.
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

There will be another 60 vote Friday* on the garbage shutdown deal. If we can convince just one Senator from the 52 republicans and 8 Dems that voted yes to flip, we could still stop this. Please jump on the phone today, call them, and share this widely.

*If all goes by the regular schedule

PolitiFact - Do ICE officers have ‘federal immunity’ as White House official Stephen Miller said?

No

Do ICE officers have ‘federal immunity’?
Stephen Miller said ICE agents have federal immunity. Agents have broad protections when they’re conducting official duties. But they’re not immune from prosecution if they break state or federal law.

Catching up on last night’s Rock Hall induction ceremony. I keep saying “How were they not already inducted before now?” Enjoying the heck out of these performances. Definitely tearing up a bit for those artists we’ve lost and who aren’t here to get their flowers in person.

This is correct, and what we saw tonight is that the people aren't gonna put up with this shit. The No Kings Era is here to stay.
not to bring the vibe down, but my guess is that after tonight Trump will probably double down on gerrymandering, voter suppression, and intimidation as tactics to disincentivize Dem turnout ahead of next year‘s midterms. (with margins like these, it won’t matter, but it’s a time to be vigilant)

I know there is still so much work to be done. And I’m sure this administration is going to try and retaliate somehow for all these democrats/democracy wins from tonight.

But there is a surge of hope that is tangible after all these big Democrat/democracy wins. We are voting to help each other.
