The cover of Clipped by KQ Watson with buy link logos for various online book retailers. The covers of the epub and paperback editions of Clipped by K.Q. Watson. Bloody red wings on a white background. the text "A divine being who chose to give up his wings. A girl with demons in her head. Faith-healers, drug dealers, cult-leaders & gun-toting angel hunters. A road trip through a god-fearing dystopian world." An abstract image of splattered black wings on a white background.

The text reads:
Heaven was perfect, until they came for his son.

When angel engineer Zak's infant son is cast down for being born without wings, he faces Heaven's cruel mandate: forget, or fall. Clipped, Zak plummets to a broken Earth, where false prophets exploit the faithful, drug lords rule dead cities, and every truth comes with a price.

Pursued by ruthless angel hunters through decaying urban wastelands and corrupted mega-churches, Zak uncovers a conspiracy that reaches from Earth's grimmest gutters to Heaven's highest chambers. What begins as a father's desperate search becomes a brutal quest for vengeance that will expose Heaven's most devastating lies - and make them remember his son's name. My Skull of Cthulhu. Made in 2011. Still my favourite art I've ever done.

A skull with tentacles for teeth and a galaxy in its eye. Made in the early 2010s, not made with AI.

Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad. Stop believing I wanna see it or that I'll understand, I don't and I won't. If you're just trying to troll me, I've seen way worse, i'll restrict and move on. But please, if you've got any decency, just stop doing this to him and to me, to everyone even, full stop. It's dumb, it's a waste of time and energy, and believe me, it's NOT what he'd want.
To watch the legacies of real people be condensed down to 'this vaguely looks and sounds like them so that's enough,
, just so
other people can churn out horrible TikTok slop puppeteering them is maddening. You're not making art, you're making disgusting, over-processed hotdogs out of the lives of human beings, out of the history of art and music, and then shoving them down someone else's throat hoping they'll give you a little thumbs up and like it.
Gross. And for the love of EVERYTHING, stop calling it 'the future. Al is just badly recycling and regurgitating the past to be reconsumed. You are taking in the Human Centipede of content, and from the very very end of the line, all while the folks at the front laugh and laugh, consume and consume.

My book was self published this year.
It has 4 reviews on Goodreads.
It took me over a decade to write. AI never touched it.

I tick 3 of those 4 boxes, so please use discretion.

Man, this is just as annoying as the "Look at the fingers, its AI!" when I have a natural limb difference...

“When you get a suspicious book, “you look it up to see what else the [author] has written. And you see there's 30 things, and none of them have any reviews, and they were all written in the last two years,” DeMeester-Lane says.”
How Local Librarians Keep AI Slop Off the Shelves
AI is being used to create nonsensical, sometimes dangerously inaccurate books. Local librarians are tasked with keeping these volumes out of their collections.

I haven't seen the Big Famous Movies Everyone's Seen like Citizen Kane, The Godfather, Scarface, Dirty Harry and only know them through cultural osmosis.

Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

Wheelchair Seating for the Apocalypse is a short story I wrote years ago that was traditionally published twice. Now is living it's 2nd life on KU. It's about a disabled woman who decides to skip the whole zombie infestation thing.

I dunno why but this actually made me laugh. The dick joke, obviously but the turning the bug over, it had "Am I a parent now?" energy.

I love the character names and I love the title.

I also like the waterfall of filthy water. Good imagery.

Since t'is the season for spookycreepy, have you read my very short, 2,500 word zombie story, Wheelchair Seating for the Apocalypse? It's about a woman in a wheelchair taking matters into her own hands during a zombie apocalypse.

#SFFChat Q4:
A little panic attack moment in Wheelchair Seating For the Apocalypse.
Grey text on a black background that reads "I wasn’t ready for the panic when it started to set in.
What if they get in here before I’m dead? What if they pull my arms off first and I feel the limbs rip from their sockets and tear from my body? What if I die and turn into one of them anyway, bite or no bite? And what if then, I have my old memories? What if my consciousness is still aware? What if I have a sense of self but my mind is imprisoned in a shambling body that’s falling apart? What if all they know is hunger and pain? What if the rotting hurts? What if eating people is the only way to kill the pain? What if their dull moaning is just them screaming “help me!“. What if I become one of them, and I’m stuck wearing a grody old shirt with a cola stain on it for the rest of my un-life until someone puts me out of my misery?"

#SFFChat Q3
Max Brooks did great things with both World War Z and Devolution, but there's a specific passage early on in HOUSE of Leaves that never left my memory. I don't want to spoil it, but we can discuss it in the comments below if you want.

#SFFChat Q3: What SFF or speculative horror author do you think does creepy scenes esp. well? Maybe there's an author who you don't read because they scared you so much, or a fantasy writer whose prose raises the hair on your arms (because it's creepy, not because it's bad, ahaha).

Bird skulls, animal skulls and plague doctor masks. Also, bats.
Very simple but honest answer.

#SFFChat Q2: Is there any spooky imagery you're especially fond of?

#SFFChat Q1

I think genre blends can be fun, creative and unique. Horror within SFF can do anything from give texture to the world, to raise the stakes, to completely flip the genre the work is in. More often than not, there's usually a little bit of horror sprinkled in to SFF.

#SFFChat Q1: What role does horror play in SFF? (or replace "horror" with fear, spookiness, or another similar thing!)

Ohh I'm early for once.

Hi, I'm Kyew, I wrote dystopia and horror. And if you don't know my irrational fear of grey aliens by now, you will never, never, never know me.
