Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) announced Tuesday that his state is joining the WHO Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network, becoming the second state to do so, after California, since the U.S.’s withdrawal from the organization became official last month.

Anyway I saw someone post a photo the other day with a cat desk bed and was like "CAT DESK BED?!!?" so I forced my brother to buy me one (sorry buddy) and attached it to the desk about 15 minutes ago

Uptake is 100% so far!

Floored by this story. A man wrote a pollite email to a federal prosecutor objecting to the deportation of an Afghan seeking asylum. DHS responded with an administrative warrant to get the man's info from Google, then visited his home to intimidate him.

For a v long time, I conflated "person who can make good art" with "person who has a functioning moral compass." I think that transference (based on appreciation, love, enthusiasm) is something a lot of us do. It hurts a lot when we find that our appreciation was hijacked so someone can do bad shit.

There is a grieving process to admitting people we put on pedestals are flawed. It's okay to be hurt, betrayed. And hey, denial is part of grief.

But that denial needs to be dealt with quietly and then overcome or you are pouring salt in the wounds of someone ALREADY in pain.

Well now, would you look at that? A massive, 4-YEAR-LONG study of NEARLY 30 MILLION people in France found that individuals who received a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine had a 74% LOWER risk of death from severe COVID-19 compared to unvaccinated individuals and ZERO increased risk of all-cause mortality.

Overall mortality in unvaccinated individuals was roughly 50% HIGHER. The advantage held even after removing coronavirus-related deaths from the mix.

The study has been published in JAMA. YES, it is PEER-REVIEWED.

There's no such thing as "underage women" - they're children. That's the word we already have, because that's what they are. Children.

Also, for the record, there's no such thing as "sex with a child". The word we already have for that is rape. A child cannot consent to sex. So it's rape.

Periodic reminder: When someone shares news with "BREAKING" and they aren't a journalist and don't link to a news story, it's probably not the best source for people to be resharing. It might be trying to get rage reposts, even! Better to find a news article that is accurately describing facts.

This is sad, but good: Artists are refusing to normalize this idiocy, and instead of just commanding performances - which they can't do - the Trump people are closing it down and slinking away.
CNN is reporting the real reason Trump is closing the Kennedy Centre for two years is not for renovation: “the Kennedy Center does not have a 2026/2027 season. There would not have been any programming to announce."
