If you’re lucky enough to learn a language at school, take it. It might take you on exchanges to France, Germany and Spain, a year abroad, student adventures, fun times. You might interpret Albanian in Kosovo, teach Romanian, work with Farsi and Chinese - and discover a whole new life along the way.

Just read the word ‘frugen’ - as past tense (plural) of the verb ‘fragen’. Never seen that before, and a quick google reveals that it’s old-fashioned or perhaps regional. Anyone know where it’s used?

Only realised recently that here in Franken, we say ‘frägt/frägst’ instead of ‘fragt/fragst’.

Ich hab mal in nem Kaffeehaus gearbeitet, in dem großen Wert darauf gelegt wurde, dass wir unbedingt Konfitüre sagen, wenn es sich nicht um Zitrusfrüchte als Basis handelte. Während die Gäst:innen natürlich weiter nac

I'm not sure it was clear in this post - Hezekiah (under his ring name of Ching Hook, that surname spelled a variety of ways) was a FOUNDING member, elected at the first meeting to confirm members. Alec might have been. Cool, huh? He'd been boxing in London for four years at that time 🐻🥊

The first British Professional Boxing Association was formed in London in 1885 at the Blue Anchor, Shoreditch. Its founding members numbered around 60. I believe Hezekiah Moscow to be the first Black man to be elected, but the digitised Sporting Life in which they're all named is too faded to read!
