If I have one tip for people coming to Scotland, it’s this - slow down. Take the back roads. Don’t rush from the airport or the ferry to get up north.

There’s so much to see on the way. Here’s Forres, Dundee, Fife, and Angus.

Some of you haven’t watched The West Wing if you are surprised by this. Molly Orshansky was mentioned in the episode Indians in the Lobby in 2001 (though I think Sorkin may have changed her story a bit).

Funnily enough, it was a Thanksgiving episode.
This is an insightful but deeply upsetting article about why everyone in the US feels poor, and why the current political situation emerges as a direct result.

There's an advert on his website for a 'Depot Supervisor' that pays £12.75 an hour for shift work.
If he wants to reduce welfare spending maybe he should pay staff enough that they don't need in-work benefits.

I mean, I totally missed German bread when we lived in Scotland and would drive from Dundee to Edinburgh to the German bakery, but we should all manage to do without it for a couple of days on a trip.
The Mallorca rule applies here too: if you can't function outside of Bödefeld-Schmallenberg, just stay in fucking Bödefeld-Schmallenberg. Not like the rest of the world is jonesing for a visit from some of the least fun people on the planet.

new allegation concerning Farage’s behaviour when he was 18 years old
November 26, 2025 at 8:37 AM
It’s annoying me that we are doing the whole ‘did he didn’t he’ dance when it’s obviously true to anyone who has been following this guy’s career for the past twenty years.

Of course he was the snide, thought-he-was-so-clever, bully that we all remember from our schooldays. He still is.
Former classmate insists Farage repeatedly told him "Hitler was right" and "gas them" when they were teenagers at Dulwich College - and that the Reform leader's denials are dishonest.

Nigel Farage's racism denials are dishonest, says ex-classmate
Peter Ettedgui tells the BBC Nigel Farage targeted antisemitic abuse at him when they were teenagers.

Was wir alles für Frauen tun könnten, wenn wir nicht so viel Zeit und Energie mit Spenden sammeln vorbringen müssten.

Periodic reminder: the vaccine efficacy of the pertussis vaccine drops below 50% at 4.5 years. You should be getting a Tdap booster every 5 years, not every 10. It is especially vital if you have contact with pregnant people or infants too young to be vaccinated.
After two infants died, the Louisiana Dept of Health under the leadership of the new incoming deputy director of the CDC, delayed notifying the public for months of a whooping cough outbreak. Instead, he ordered DOH to stop promoting vaccines. Pertussis is currently a national health crisis.
Louisiana officials waited months to warn public of whooping cough outbreak
After a whooping cough outbreak killed two infants, Louisiana health officials waited months to officially alert physicians or do public outreach. That's not the typical public health response.

Kind of weird, to insinuate that the huge bill would have been slightly more understandable if the ambulance team has used its siren or driven fast, no?
Elisabeth Yoder’s 15-month-old son had a serious bacterial infection, and doctors urged his mother to take an ambulance to treat him 40 minutes away.

The bill came to $9,250.
This toddler’s nearly 40-minute ambulance ride cost his family $9,000
The ambulance didn’t use its siren or go particularly fast on the 39-mile ride between hospitals, says an Ohio mom.

His ‘pjs’ comment was more about people wearing leisure wear instead of fancy clothes on a flight. I bet if you asked ‘jogging trousers or a suit’, even the 65yr+ cohort would have gone for more casual clothing.
Is it acceptable to wear pyjamas on a flight?

61% of Brits say no, echoing US transport secretary Sean Duffy who criticised PJ-clad passengers yesterday

However, generations differ: 71% of 18-24yr olds say it is acceptable, compared to 11% of over-65s
