He entered the velodrome ahead of some chasers who basically rode up the inside, off the track and cut a huge distance off. They were relegated in their group, but caught him and then I think he also took a very brief shortcut and was relegated from *that* group. It was some madness to be sure

Oh for a long time I thought that "group two syndrome" and a lack of belief was gifting him victories, but the World's and Euros this season brought it home that's not the case. Remco rode his arse off in each of them (and here), but nobody could help him and Pog could always get time on each climb
