Today's bright spot was having a zine class with a group of home-school teens and their parents. One of them brought a minizine she made about pit bulls and why they're so great. Delightful!

Working from home with @miatadork.bsky.social means an early afternoon walk where we encountered a frog, a box turtle, a coyote (far away enough to not be scared, but close enough to see it really well), and narrowly avoided being hit on the head by falling walnuts.
Box turtle with a yellow and brown patterned shell, surrounded by brown leaves. Its little head is barely peeking out because I shrieked TURTLE and startled it.

Local friends: the Eno River Farmers Market is having a silent auction to benefit its SNAP double bucks program, which has become largely self-funded: givebutter.com/c/VKYLf1 Lots of great items like a goat-milking experience and bottomless u-pick blueberries in 2026.
