I’ve acquired these six volumes (of 7 published to date), formerly owned by Harry Belafonte, of The Papers of Martin Luther King Jr. As racist resegregationists have captured the White House we need now more than ever the astonishing courage, public moral vision, and works of MLK Jr.

Can't overstate how fucked up it is that unraveling what is arguably the greatest achievement in the history of humanity is now a motivating issue of one of the two dominant parties in the U.S.
FL is moving forward w/ plan to end all childhood vaccine mandates. Starting with hepatitis B, chickenpox, and the bacteria causing meningitis and pneumonia. Then next year GOP FL legislature is expected to revisit 1977 law re: whooping cough, measles, polio, rubella, mumps, diphtheria, and tetanus.

lol, this is the whole point. They didn’t create this system to stop fraud, they did it to make it harder to vote.
NEW: Court filings reveal that states using the Trump administration’s untested citizenship verification system to purge voter rolls may be mistakenly flagging eligible voters at an alarming rate, risking the chance of voters being disenfranchised.

“Fifteen years after the Affordable Care Act was enacted, the [Republican] party remains united in criticizing the law but divided on how to move forward.”
Meanwhile, enrollment up to 25 + million, and Trump never had concepts of a plan much less an actual plan. Republicans are clueless liars:
“I think most people are going to say, OK, I had a great deal during COVID,” said Club For Growth President David McIntosh. “But now it’s back to business as usual, and I should be paying for health care.”
Republicans Face Voter Anger Over Rising Health Care Premiums
Notices of rising health insurance premiums are landing in voters' mailboxes and sending some to Republican town halls to vent their frustration.

The firing of Debora Patta is disastrous for CBS. Bari Weiss is not fit to carry her handbag. Is the implication here that Chris Livesey is the one? Wrong choice if it had to be one or the other, but he’s at least good at what he does.

Why is it that every disappeared US citizen is not front page news? At the very least we should have a little box with a count of the number of citizens who have been taken away and are not locatable and a link to a story with photos & min-bios, just as we used to do with military casually figures.
In Portland, Oregon, masked ICE GOONS abducted and vanished US citizen Gonzalo Catalan last week. Tragically, his family remains unaware of his whereabouts and has not received any communication from him as of today.
And lest there be any confusion or doubt: we need and probably can afford a larger house, but we stay put because we love this neighborhood and we love it for its diversity. We’d vacate for Berkeley or Brooklyn, Pisa or Porto, but not trading Flower Pot/Red Cedar neighborhood for White Hills.

"High density areas have become economically thriving multicultural havens while whiter, lower density places are facing stagnation and decline as their populations have become increasingly uniform in terms of socially conservative personality, aversion to diversity, and lower levels of education."
There was a slight drift toward Trump among some subpopulations in some urban areas in 2024, so people wildly overreacted & have decided the density thing doesn't hold any more, but ... it does. Overwhelmingly, it does. Read Will Wilkinson (where did he go?) for much, much more:

Unwillingness to rule out a third term for Trump punto e basta ought to disqualify you from public service,
Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville doesn’t rule out a Trump 3rd term: “If he says he has some different circumstances that might be able to go around the Constitution—but that's up to him… Will it happen? Very unlikely, but don't ever close the book on President Trump.”

In the NY Times, historian Jill Lepore called Hillary Clinton’s 2016 DNC speech “depraved,” “cynical,” “the most reprehensible piece of political theater.” She said Clinton painted her enemies as “satanic.”
Unlike the Times, I checked the speech. Lepore is 100% wrong.

The Walton family (who own Walmart) are worth over $400 billion, yet many of their employees are on SNAP.

Bezos is worth over $400 billion, many Amazon employees require SNAP.

The people who need help are not the problem.

It’s corporate greed. It’s an unwillingness to pay a living wage.

And it's backing Andrew Cuomo, a meathead whose whole career in politics stems from his daddy being good at it.

But *Mamdani* is the nepo baby, because his mom was a filmmaker? Sure.

With rare exception football programs contribute ZERO $$$ to the university. At best they fund minor sports to keep athletics Title IX compliant & give a boost to freshman recruiting in tuition driven world. Vast majority of football programs lose money and are a drag on a university’s budget.
