I was going to read Legendborn when Oathbound came out cuz it’s been on my bookclub TBR for a shameful amount of time and the fomo was real But, I just had this feeling that I needed to keep waiting. LEGENDBORN IS THIS MONTH’S BC PICK! LET’S GOOOO! And now I get to make other people read it, too. 😊

New Sleep Token single Caramel dropped in the US today. I had heard people in Australia that got the drop yesterday say that it’s sadder than Bloodsport… it’s definitely up there…🖤💔

I only made it through Light from Uncommon Stars for the #transrightsreadathon this year. What a collision of concepts you would never think would work! I don’t know that I have read any book that has more heart. Beautiful and heartbreaking book.

#transrightsreadathon starts tomorrow! My goal is to read at least 2 books. Light from Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki and Black on Both Sides by C. Riley Snorton. Both have been on my TBR for the last 2 years for the readathon, and I’m gonna read them this year damnit!

A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Placing the time of the setting was a little difficult, but it’s a fantasy…so maybe trying to place it in my idea of a time was stupid. The FMC’s struggle to believe her own lived experiences was a bit too relatable 😅. Great character growth all around. Loved it

Trying to get arcs on NetGalley as a super small and inconsistent creator is very humbling. 😅

So our tax dollars are paying for security detail for private businesses?
So, is someone else gonna say it or...??? (... this is Chicago. They have a 6 -12 minute response time. 🙄)

I put Legendborn on my bookclub’s tbr when we first started meeting over a year ago, hoping it would be our random winner at some point so we could all read and appreciate it together. Seeing everyone’s hype for Oathbound has officially given me fomo, & I am reading it on my own this month, damn it!

What has DOGE done?

- Fired the people tasked with keeping Americans safe from the bird flu.
- Gutted the IRS workforce during filing season.
- Fired the FAA workers who make sure it’s safe for us to fly in planes.

Does that sound like efficiency to you?

I will truly never understand why people are okay with their reps and president straight up lying to their faces about things everyone can verify on their own in 2 damn minutes. They think you’re stupid, and you’re not proving them wrong.

Come and Get It: not for me, not rating

The Water Dancer and a Master of Djinn were my favorites, obviously. Didn’t quite finish Black Candle Women in time, but enjoying it so far! #booksky

Come and Get It by Kiley Reid

Book club pick for this month, and it was definitely just not for me. I’m just not a contemporary fiction girlie. Takes place in a college setting, and I very much do not want to relive that part of life. It did feel like real college sloppiness, so good job!

Andrew Tate being allowed to come to the U.S. and avoid facing trial for sex trafficking in Romania is beyond stomach-churning. This man is a HUGE influencer and uses his platform/following to further abuse women who have accused him. Now he won’t face justice, reaffirming his lies to his followers

Finished A Master of Djinn by P. Djèlí Clark!

I absolutely loved this. Historical fantasy set in early 1900’s Egypt where djinn and magic are an aspect of everyday life. This was a story of resistance against colonialism and cultural appropriation with a strong FMC and great queer rep! 5⭐️

I want everyone to know that the band Sleep Token teased a micro site with random letters. Then you had to look at an ancient sculpture to find the order of the letters to access the site. Then it asked you to choose a house and none of us know what it means. But it’s very Sleep Token. #sleeptoken
