Hey all of you folks who couldn’t vote for Harris because you “didn’t want to support genocide” - Here is YOUR genocide. Thanks for nothing.
It's great that the media, Congress is going all Watergate on one of Trump's many crimes, the 'double-tap' murder of 2 Caribbean sailors

But the reality is that Trump's death cult has killed hundreds of thousands, mostly through senseless USAID cuts

I will never like most hip-hop. I will also never like most country music.

I’m not exactly musically homeless, I’m just living in a strange mix of the past and the indie present.

Part of the purpose of a 4-year liberal education is to prep you to be an effective citizen, not just an effective job-holder. A liberal education forces you to think in different ways and understand different aspects of American society. Job prep only? Teaches you how to be a drone.
If you are providing me with an education that is low utility in the world then it’s a disservice. My composition class spent four weeks on poetry. I’m sorry, but that only would’ve been useful if I wanted to be a poet. I don’t need to know iambic pentameter in order to be a victim advocate.

In this volatile, threatened journalism industry, ProPublica is one of the few places that does months-long investigations. In this case, @gingerthompson.bsky.social spent five YEARS reporting this story. When you donate, this is what you're making possible: projects.propublica.org/albany-georg...
Sick in a Hospital Town: As Phoebe Memorial Grew, the Health of Albany, Georgia, Declined
The five-part series, “Sick in a Hospital Town,” pursues one question: Why are people in Albany so sick when its most powerful institution is a hospital?

Really irritating how Google’s Gemini tries to insert itself into everything I do. And I bloody well don’t need it to summarize emails. Begone, foul shade!

God, what a filthy little liar Leavitt is.
Leavitt: "President Trump convinced President Xi to continue purchasing again American soybeans, which is something China wasn't doing under the last administration because they had no respect for President Biden or the country at the time."

The fact that Sam Altman was raised without benefit of ChatGPT seems lost on him.

And you can draw whatever conclusion you like from that fact…

My objection is that there was already a pretty good Democratic candidate, Colin Allred, and it looks like Crockett, and the Party, unceremoniously shoved him aside in the hope that Crockett, being more notorious and likely to lose her redistricting House seat, would be a stronger candidate.
It's fine to think Congresswoman Crockett isn't the strongest Democratic candidate to win the Texas Senate race, and I agree. But when the focal points of your criticism are her eyelashes and nails and her general appearance, it feels like you may need to chat with a therapist.

If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and moral, then it’s not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power. - Dwight Eisenhower

It’s time to let farmers who made the crappy business decision to vote for Trump go out of business, just like other business people who make crappy business decisions. No welfare.
Are farmers going to be on welfare for all 4 years of this Trump term, or just for 3 years like the first Trump term?

We get you like voting for government handouts, but we are $38 trillion in debt.

Trump’s farm bailout billions won’t actually go to struggling farmers - it will go to major, price-fixing behemoth ag corporations whose job it is to squeeze farmers for basically every cent they have.

This is why Biden should have looked at Roberts, Alito, Gorsuch, Thomas, Beer Boy and What’s-her-name and said “You are too corrupt to be a Supreme Court as the Founders intended; as head of the Executive Branch, I will give your decisions no weight and will not abide by them.”
We are dealing with such corruption in every aspect of our government, I don't know how we undo the damage.

Kind of unceremoniously brushing aside Colin Allred in the process. This announcement rubs the wrong way.

lol - Too true.
however many trillions spent on developing Algorithms and hoovering up as much data as possible and amazon's recommendation algorithm still goes "oh you bought one window air conditioner? okay, do you want 15 more?"

So Colin Allred has dropped out of the Texas US Senate race because Jasmine Crockett *might* enter the race?

Bad move.

Forcing consumers to buy a subscription is antiquated and guarantees that most paywalled content will never be read, which means lower salaries for fewer journalists. A lot more content would get sold if publications went to an Apple Music-style “pay-per-article” format.
complaining about paywalls when so many journalists are being laid off and there are fewer market incentives to do great reporting and in-depth investigations, data analysis and features is also wild when everyone understands you need to pay for electronics, streaming services, and utilities

And because the Republicans in the House and Senate go along with basically every asinine thing he does or wants. The entire GOP cannot be trusted by anyone outside the US now - or anyone inside, for that matter.
“…Even if they are able to clean up his mess … elect a supremely sane president next, America will NEVER again be a trusted partner. Because there are enough Americans who would vote for him … (again).

I couldn't even say anything. She was right. The damage this has done is endless…”

One thing I think Trumpers and MAGA don’t seem to understand: If they hate being the “world’s policeman” and want to focus on Trump’s inane “sphere of influence” approach, WE DON’T NEED A HUGE MILITARY. We could - and should - reduce the budget by 40%.

Worse news - Republicans have been underfunding science since the 1990s. Employment opportunities for graduate students even then were pathologically bad.
My teen, who had dreamt of being an astrophysicist, just told me he wants to go to law school because, “Science isn’t going to be a priority in the US in the future…I don’t want a job where I’ll be constantly worried my funding will be taken away.”

Gutting. How many future scientists have we lost?

In his heart, Tom Cotton is a murderer. A criminal. As are any other Republicans defending this crime.
WELKER: Lawmakers say the 2 men appeared to raise their arms potentially to surrender. Why did Admiral Bradley interpret these actions as anything other than them trying to survive?

TOM COTTON: They were sitting or standing on top of a capsized boat. They weren't floating helplessly in the water
