I hold a special anger towards class reductionists that claim to be the true leftists and call anyone that embraces a multidimensional, intersectional socialism a "lib".

There is much more to leftist and progressive and politics than opposing capitalism. Socialism is more than class warfare.

Been away from here for a month for a MH break

This week, my employers took CR off the table for academics until 31 July at the earliest

Effective local union action makes a difference

Still so much to do

Solidarity

- 1 in 4 people will be made redundant

But where's the financial evidence for this extreme action?

Hallucinations in generative AI, specifically LLMs are not just a minor glitch. They're an unwanted feature that is fundamental to the probabilistic nature of the algorithm. This is why I will not advocate the use of LLMs to "summarise" or "simplify" a text for students.

The far right isn't interested in actually ruling - Farage doesn't care about being PM. They care about pushing an agenda, and right now Starmer is facilitating that agenda.
Watching Labour stumble even further right as if that’s going to stop “the far right from winning” when everything going further right shows that they’ve already won.

They win by dragging everything right and they’ve been successful at doing that for a long time.

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

I'm growing more and more convinced that most "Marxists" are not socialists at all. They just want to be angry at the wealthy but do none of the work to understand or participate in politics beyond a superficial Marxist class analysis that frames them as the hero against the villain class.

EThOS was an invaluable service for Mres and PhD researchers, especially in the beginning of their projects. Why is nobody talking about this!?

That painful feeling when you admit to yourself that the last 2000 words you wrote for your thesis were in fact not relevant to the chapter you're meant to be writing.

Maybe I can adapt it for my general lit review? 😫

This is a new low from a govt plumbing the depths of performative cruelty in hopes that the public won’t notice they have no answers to the real issues facing this country

A sensible, humane govt would focus on safe routes to prevent people making dangerous small boat crossings

The fact that this person remains Health Secretary is objectively one of the most significant British political scandals of the post-Covid era. But because he's doing something the media barons like, everyone has decided it's fine.
Health Secretary Wes Streeting says that the British Medical Association, which represents Britain's doctors, is a threat to the NHS. Streeting took a record £225k from private healthcare-related donors in just two years.

Beyond fed up with how MPs have leapt on the chance to turn a transphobic murder into something to do with children's access to mobile phones, completely washing their hands of the transphobic radicalisation of adults that has driven this hate.

It's our version of school shootings and video games.
