Having reached a thousand followers here (!), it's clearly time for me to do a big ol' self-promo thread of "Here's the parts of my TTRPG work I think you should know about!".

So here we go:

Question:

Common challenges a GM can prep *that are fully systematized*:
- Combat enemies (monsters, bandits, ships, mecha, etc)
- Traps!
- Perilous Locations (esp. with grid or measured movement, timed-events, etc.)

What else comes to mind (including "in THIS game, these are")?

"This is clearly an inhuman combination of many sources" is good, actually, insofar as it's clearly not "This is a direct ripoff of someone".

Plus it could actually be on track to get less and less resource-intensive, which: Want.

If the only change in AI art regulation was copyright enforcement, and companies were held fully responsible when their AI produced clear derivative works, that'd clear the whole board.

We'd be back to "soupy freaky mashup" pictures - to my eye, the coolest stage, most clearly doing NEW things.

It's tricky, because Mastodon is a LOT of platforms, and the quality... varies. I'm on a great one! Not all of them are similarly great.

There's totally 2000 word to say about those, but you have to care about X and Y in the way MtG players care about deckbuilding, where it's all about being really into combinatorial stuff more than artistic depatures from tradition.

Which, uh. Not that big a niche, admittedly.

(Assuming trustworthiness doesn't mean passing on cutting the damn cards, tho')

Other way around: I assume trustworthiness in experts unless they make it clear they have politics contrary to competence.

We are currently heavy on highly visible faux-experts and "let me show my whole ass" incompetence (especially in, say, Economics), which can make this hard, but.

If you trust health officials, doctors and scientists based on their politics, you're doing it wrong.

It is, of course, kinda janky, but the bridge from Bluesky to Mastodon got a pretty big upgrade.

(I suspect people will use this for "Back up my Bluesky on Mastodon", as much as actually move, but this is a good time to have backups, sooooo.....)

Bounce lets you move from Bluesky to Mastodon without losing followers
If you want to expand your reach, this seems like a simple way to do it.

I attempted a five-second search and was all "Widdie... dragon.. horse... Bah, I know it changed not that long ago!".

Am I making progress on ANY personal projects during the teachers' strike up here? Fuck no.

But for a nice change, I don't feel even slightly bad about it.

I am particularly embarrassed by both of these people, in large part because if you go far ENOUGH back, I have been both of them.

...Flash card reading device and *colourful* worksheets arriving tonight, and I'm making an exercise using Once Upon A Time Cards for teaching "Basic story elements", which should shift us to four (better) worksheets, five activities tomorrow?

Papa School in teaching strike, day 2:

Worksheet-heavy day attempted: Six worksheets plus three activities. Functional, and I'm not falling-over drained, but not highly engaging, and probably low-retention for kiddo. But...

Just saying, Prism has a fairly direct way of answering "I want to do X with my inferno (or other) power, how hard is that?" that's worth seeing.

The chief lesson of Final Fantasy Tactics is that real heroes will be demonized and attacked and erased, not celebrated, by those in power.

They've had at least a few days to recover, so maybe we should check in and see how the robot sex was?

Had it all growing up, and naturally became a reckless fool that caused the death of a lover. Was driven into exile as a result; then became a bitter intellectual...

Look, that's an unsuccessful questor for resurrection, who turned to black magic in grief, but didn't learn what they *wanted.*

"We'd have a recession if it wasn't for all the AI spending" actually means "We are in a recession which is partially obfuscated *from statistics* (and nobody else) by rich people playing silly buggers with large transactions between each other".
