I think one of the most interesting things I've learned re: narc-abuse is how it normalizes toxic behavior. I feel like this explains why so many of my friends (female especially) have proven so damn dangerous in the end.

I've been afraid to openly stand up to narcissistic abuse for fear of being labeled "manic."

I've found a sanity counter-argument: "Okay. Let's say I'm manic. What are my presenting symptoms?"

Because "I don't personally appreciate what you're saying" isn't diagnostic criteria.

I really enjoyed making this one. It’s got a lot of what makes the painting a “Patric Painting” as my wife is known to say.

There are sometimes when I really enjoy a painting for the absurdity. Sometimes I feel like I nail a painting and this is one of those times (though that usually means I haven’t nailed it). I have to be aware of feeling like a painting is successful, it’s a recipe for disappointment.

For Color theory nerds: I’m aware that I wrote “ROYGBP” (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple) and some people would say id should be “ROYGBV” or “ROYGBIV” but I like the word “purple”. I also use this as a basic 6 color artistic color wheel for painting purposes and, so tend to leave out indigo (just for my shorthand)

I also love Boards of Canada, so maybe I should have done it “ROYGBIV” :D

This is interesting. I worry that, as you touch upon, this lens could lead some, especially those who think addiction is a choice, to believe the same of depression. Stigma & all that jazz

I see my 2 year+ depression as a neuroplasticity sitch. Water'll take the path best carved. So too goes pain

I'd argue it's most important to tailor treatment to the actual individual. Isn't it straight lazy to stop at "sex-specific"? So many Drs now seem to treat based on brains kinda like mine. Not my actual brain.
