It’s the first month of the year, and LMC has a calendar full of events just for you (and your writing, of course). We have a spec fic Q&A with Chloe N. Clark, a revision workshop, and even more guided writing!

Check out the full list of events in our monthly newsletter: buff.ly/mEcu0zZ
don't wanna overgeneralize but...
see that distribution? it might look similar at MANY lit mags

do with that info what you will 👀
We do everything we can to help submitting authors know if we are the right magazine for their piece. We even list the typical length of stories we publish in a low-tech bar chart. Often, getting a "yes" is just about finding the right #litmag fit! buff.ly/K79OL9S

We’re almost done with the first full week of 2026… *phew.* Almost everyone has some sort of New Year’s resolution, but, as writers, we often plan to just “write more.” What are your New Year’s writing resolutions? Sound off in the replies. If it relates to writing, it counts!

Among other topics, we'll get into the speculative and slipstream and why the most important mysteries in such work might not lie 'out there'... but within our characters.

End the year by emailing/tagging/etc. a writer who wrote something that inspired you, brought you joy, meant something to you this year!
LAST DAY OF THE YEAR so it's time to do all those things that scare you. Email that writer. Furiously apply for that thing. Buy what you've bookmarked. Do it joyfully & bask in the knowledge that tomorrow is all new ❤️‍🔥

Accidentally discovered the giant bag of Hershey’s kisses in my sister’s cabinet. I slammed the door shut and walked away really fast and am sitting in the other room but already I know that it’s no use and my future is now set in stone.

I once dropped in on this poetry bookstore here in Seoul and they were busy putting together someone’s $10,000 poetry purchase, like, someone just put that money down and said, “Give me one of everything.” Haunted by that like we’re all haunted by the Beast’s library in Beauty and the Beast.
Poetry. These two giant pallets are full of poetry. Two thousand volumes of poetry.
