Call me cynical, but immediately releasing kits of the projects feels very cash grabby to me. These kits won't suit new knitters, & they won't find that out until after they shell out £100+ (with added fat tax).

Do we think the contestants are getting paid for use of their designs? 👀

Also what is the point of the team challenge if there’s no consequence or benefit to being the winning team? Or did I just miss that?

But the chunky knits make all these talented people look like amateurs. And that’s so sad. I want to see what they CAN do, not watch them struggle :(

thanks to the magic of technology, watching #gameofwool out of curiosity. didn't expect much, but knitting w/chunky wool on size 20s is an absuard exercise. Let them knit a sock in a day, a week for a sweater, something realistic, but chunky on a giant needle is ludicrious. Not sure we'll be back. 🧶

Someone on reddit suggested the second sock challenge. Give them one finished sock and ask them to make a matching second one, but they have to figure out the yarn and pattern etc #gameofwool

Do a loose ends project style challenge. Give them a half finished piece and make them finish it. Either make them match the gauge etc and complete to perfection. Or ask them to finish it in their own style ala the transformation challenge in sewing bee. #gameofwool

Challenge 3 - unravel a charity shop jumper and knit a hat with the recouped yarn

Challenge 4 - give them finished panel pieces and ask them to seam together without using mattress stitch

There's so many knitting related tasks that would suit a time Challenge

Other people have suggested good ways to improve it already. I think the idea of giving them a main project to knit over a week & then giving them "mini games" to do in between would be better.

Challenge 1: sew in colourwork ends in an hour

Challenge 2: spin yarn from scratch etc

I will watch it again next week, but the teaser reel did not fill me with confidence that we aren't getting more of the same. I'm not down for weeks of being angry about my hobby, so if it's not different I'm out #gameofwool

#GameofWool trying to imagine a version of this show with less of a cursed vibe - I think you have to lean into the slowness of it and give people a week to do the construction between design weekends. Give them kit to do video diaries, bring their lives into it, make it chill.

The main thing for me about these styles of show, is getting to see how talented the people are and watching that talent grow. But (so far) its just watching them all panic knit at the minute #gameofwool

This would be a better show if they had done one yarn-adjacent task in the studio followed by a week to complete an actually good item.

As it is, it's a dreary show with pointless makes that don't reflect their skill or the beauty of home knitting. #GameOfWool

Imagine taking your comfort activity, that you do to relax with a bit of music or telly and a cuppa, and making you sit on on an uncomfortable settee and do it while talking to strangers for 12 hours. Torture. #GameOfWool

I can't even imagine doing a neck hole on straights! I assume he's just lumping double ended ones in with the straights, which... even though they are, I don't think of them that way 😄
