Playing both back to back really made me realize why there's such a divide between which one is better beyond one having such a compelling character backstory and the other not having it.

To me, really hard to say which one is better because they both fulfill what I look for in games.

I don't blame fans of either picking them because their reasons are valid.

Galaxy 1 not only did a lot of the strengths first, but also was probably the biggest game-changer for Mario.

Galaxy 2 expanded upon these strengths in terms of gameplay and refined a lot of minor issues of the original.

I think both Galaxy games are equally excellent in their own right. Galaxy 1 with it's sheer scope, Galaxy 2 in it's tighter design.

Which one you prefer is more of a matter of preference, what speaks to you more, and what you look for in a Mario game.

Guillermo del Toro and Netflix have announced plans to form a new stop motion studio that will be both a studio and a school to push the medium forward and will develop plans to make Del Toro's next stop motion project after Pinocchio. I'm very hyped to see what this leads to!

Like, this is not comparable to Paper Mario Sticker Star or Mario Party 9 & 10 in being different for the sake of it. It's just trying to find a way to reinvent the format.

If you want something more traditional, CTR:NF, Sonic Racing Crossworlds, and even MK8 Deluxe are right there.

All that aside, World is still a fantastic entry that I do think people need to either let it flourish and improve if Nintendo makes any form of post-launch content or not hold it to the same standards as more traditional kart racers since it's trying to be something different.
