I don't know the details but the way people are reacting and talking about the Hades 2 ending feels very reminiscent of when people got mad about the Bayonetta 3 ending.

Maybe people are burnt out on roguelikes? Maybe Heart Machine's core audience weren't interested and not enough new fans were drawn in? There's unlikely any one answer; it's such a sad situation all round.

This is honestly surreal to me. I previewed the game at Gamescom and even as someone uninterested in roguelikes, I thought Heart Machine was onto something with this one.

I have heard the initial launch was rough, though, but I wonder how much of the blame can be attributed to that.

Heart Machine is laying off another round of unknown numbers, with Hyper Light Breaker development ending after a difficult Early Access launch.
