It’s nice to hear a politician talking like this, with both depth and moral clarity.
As Toni Morrison said, "the very serious function of racism is distraction. It keeps you from doing your work." But she also reminded us never to lose our capacity to be shocked.

Part of my conversation on @ayman.msnbc.com earlier today.

You're quite welcome! Marching is about changing 1.) us, not him, and 2.) the conditions under which we constitute 'the good life" and a responsible nation.

This is authoritarianism. Picking his media oligarchs.
Not simply fascism. Monarchism.

This is chilling. The President is asserting authority to kill completely outside of the law. And plans to keep at it.

We are not at war, and he is ignoring the criminal laws that actually apply (eg, murder).

No limiting principle stops him from doing this to others he labels "terrorists."

Trump: "I don't think we're necessarily going to ask for a declaration of war, I think we're just gonna kill people that are bringing drugs into our country. We're going to kill them. They're going to be, like dead."

Kevin, when you put it that way... it sounds pretty bad.
Over the past week, the president said the DOJ should pay him a quarter billion dollars, bulldozed half the White House to build himself a gaudy ballroom, bragged about murdering civilians in international waters, pardoned some more criminals, directed federal prosecutors to indict his opponents ...

I’m a drug use researcher and I’m here to assure you in very strong terms that blasting boats to smithereens is not an “anti-drug strategy” in any way, form, or fashion.

I think you are underestimating the degree to which people have a picture of what the white house has looked like their whole lives and now it doesn't look like that anymore.
do you think normies care about the East Wing being demolished?

“oh so you think the east wing being demolished is worse than-“ it’s a synecdoche, man. a visual metaphor. there’s a reason the aliens in Independence Day don’t aim a huge laser at SNAP benefits

Of course.
The East Wing is home to the Office of the First Lady and has played a key role in women’s visibility in the White House. This week, bulldozers began to tear it down to clear the way for President Donald Trump’s $250 million ballroom.
First ladies made history in the East Wing. It was razed for Trump's ballroom.

Oh you're trying to say the cost of living is skyrocketing?

Donald Trump can't hear you over the sound of bulldozers demolishing a wing of the White House to build a new grand ballroom.

NEW: After The Washington Post reported Monday on the demolition of the "East Wing facade," a new picture obtained by Law Dork that was taken on Tuesday shows that a substantial portion of the entirety of the East Wing has been demolished.

So, some free advice: Journalists are not therapists. We have a duty to report on what we hear. If you have a journo friend and want to vent to them about something, GET MUTUAL CONSENT for an off-the-record convo first. Once that's agreed, fight club rules.

Otherwise, we can and will report on it.
Oh nooooo, Lindsey Halligan, this is not how any of this works

I just went to the House floor to demand that Speaker Johnson swear in Adelita Grijalva, but the GOP gaveled out without even recognizing us.

We’re not going anywhere. I’m here with Leader Jeffries and Adelita Grijalva. Speaker Johnson must swear her in.

the president has destroyed the east wing of the white house without so much as a word of input from anyone else to build a royal ballroom paid for with bribes
