It's the best time of the year to buy CameraBag, a fabulously easy and powerful photo manipulation program.

The Pro version adds the ability to do this to videos too. It's just cost me less than a tenner to extend & get all the updates over the next year.

You could argue that, in the interests of accuracy, editorial policy should dictate that when prominent "gender critical" people are quoted, they should be described thusly:

- "<GC name>, a middle-aged woman with no relevant qualifications or expertise and an obsession with other people's bits"
To any of my cis followers who might be wondering what's wrong with the BBC's phrasing...

- "biological male" is deliberate misgendering
- it also implies that trans people are somehow being deceptive, because "biology"
- no trans person "identifies as" *anything*. We just *are*

Hope that helps.
It looks like that BBC page has been updated in the last few minutes, so that's no longer the last sentence. I think part of it has been moved to this paragraph in the middle of the article, and the age is no longer mentioned:

Was the NFT showing of Stalker that had an audience member complaining about the bum ache that resulted during the talk afterwards just in my imagination?

Some stunning work, but could do with a fast forward button, eg the driving sequences of Solaris.

My name is Harry Smith. Richer than Percy Bysshe Shelley, I outlived him by decades. He called me the "only truly generous" wealthy person he ever knew.

But it's his version of Ozymandias you all know, not mine. At least it now has its own Wikipedia page.

Favourite film seen in a cinema on opening day (& first showing): Terminator 2.

Never seen in a cinema: Tar. I wish there was a DVD with director's & actors' commentaries.

Bonus 'seen at film festival before release': tie between Re-Animator, This is Spinal Tap, & Mishima.
My all-time favorite movie that I saw in theaters on its opening weekend: Inglourious Basterds

My all-time favorite movie that I’ve never seen in theaters: The Last of the Mohicans

Chatting to a (very good) magician after a show, he talked about "chance" in relation to one bit of a most impressive trick.

I am still laughing at that: none of the bits were "chance", they were loads of practice and lots of skill.

16% of the UK population was born overseas (21/22 census)
12% of UK prisoners were born overseas
Therefore people born overseas are less likely to be in jail than people born in the UK.
That should be the headline.

Guess which is getting more money from the govt:

* Reducing child poverty spread over a decade

* Enabling drivers on the A46 to possibly go around Newark about five minutes faster at a few times a week

It's the second one, of course, getting over £650m rather than £500m.
£500M over a decade for child poverty.
Much better than £0.
But compare:
Derby A38 junctions “upgrade” was estimated at £250M years ago & just approved. Many big highway schemes have negative cost benefit & cause huge harms. A rethink on what we fund is needed.

It's two weeks to BiCon 2025.

If you're coming - for the whole thing, for a day, or as part of the online bits - but haven't registered yet, it will make both of our lives easier if you do so in the next couple of days.

There’s something really disturbing to me about the way the media, and indeed her own mother, continue to talk about Brianna Ghey - a constant focus on publicising her mental health, as if she’d committed suicide, and never focusing on the transphobia that actually led to her horrific murder.

.. and of course, Labour will see that as a reason to become more right wing.
Local election results are obviously complicated, but *numerically* it basically looks like Labour lost a ton of seats to the Lib Dems and Greens (good) and the Tories lost even more seats (good) to Reform (very bad)
