The question is, do you feel lucky, human? Well do ya?
This short thread is worth reading, if you’re at all curious about what impact “the trans debate”, particularly after last year’s Supreme Court ruling, might have on the everyday lives of trans people.

We all have different experiences, but I can strongly relate to this 👇🏻
I've not said much about the impact of FWS v SM on me really.

I came out late. In my early forties. Like many late transitioners, I had a history of anxiety and depression. I wonder if there's a link? /s

Anyway...

1/🧵 I really like Lesley Irvine’s straightforward metaphor for the Scottish Ministers, hate groups are attempting to subvert the Equality Act 2010, turning Schedule 3, which was meant as a shield, into a sword, leaving trans people with nothing to defend themselves against this supposed new sword.

Fuck - and I can’t emphasise that word enough - this shitty, corrupt, complacent, bigoted and cruel Labour government.
Huge story in @theipaper.com

"[Mandelson] was very involved in all the details; I think he enjoyed it. He was involved in all the personalities and the mechanics including asking the question of who do we want in which seat"

Probably a breach of GDPR laws too ...

The revelation shows the extent of Mandelson’s direct involvement in the bitter battle to gain control of the party ahead of the 2024 general election

“Every one of these people* is a huge problem to a sane world.”

Helen Joyce, Sex Matters

Dr Joyce has a PhD in mathematics and an unhealthy obsession with what’s in people’s pants.

She’s an eliminationist. She wants nothing less than to eradicate trans lives.

*she means trans people
This is a must-read: Appeasing Sex Matters was never about “clarity”. It was about power. What followed the Supreme Court ruling wasn’t calm or resolution, but escalating demands, wider exclusions, and institutions choosing fear over inclusion.

What would it take to appease campaigners Sex Matters?
In April 2025, Sex Matters – the UK’s most prominent gender-critical campaign group – declared a win, but the fight seems far from over

This shows that a national human rights regulatory body is capable of performing its statutory functions, when it hasn't been captured by raving bigots.
1/🧵 The Scottish Human Rights Commission’s intervention in the case of Scottish Prison Service is excellent. (The SHRC is entirely independent of the EHRC.)

Kenny McBrearty KC said Articles 2 & 3 rights are unqualified.

Your infrequent reminder that this👇🏻 has its roots in criticism of one (yes, one) episode of The IT Crowd (for its, at best, extremely clumsy* portrayal of a trans woman).

Graham's inability to take criticism has led to this point.

Graham Linehan is testifying in the Judiciary Committee on "free speech."Naturally, he argues that in order to have "free speech," society must get rid of trans people.

This should be a resignation matter for the Minister.
A truly hideous right wing smear campaign against these six activists for exercising their free speech rights to protest - and confronted with the evidence all six have been acquitted.

If Labour doesn't enable electoral reform, it will be solely responsible for a Reform or Reform-led government in 2029.

I will not be taking questions.

Labour strategists should read this and reflect.

TLDR: abandon trans people at your own risk. For centre and left-wing parties, it's a vote-losing strategy. In the context of a resurgent far right, to adopt such a strategy seems... frankly, bonkers.

Sartorial observation: I wish things like hoodies and jeans didn't contribute to my dysphoria, although I kinda understand why they do.

Not all hoodies, not all jeans. But... it's frustrating.

I can't be the only one to be concerned at the growing disconnect between the reality that most of us inhabit, on the one hand, and the fantasies of the tiny number of men with untrammelled wealth and power, on the other.

This seems to be me to be problematic on multiple levels, no?

It's pretty clear to us that implementation of the Sullivan 'review' breaches UK GDPR obligations. EU GDPR, identical to ours, says you can't process data about the sex assigned at birth of trans people unless there is a very good reason for doing so. And we are active in this space.
📣 Today @felicitycallard.bsky.social and I have published the first peer-reviewed response to the 'Sullivan Review' of research and data on sex and gender.

The Review could threaten trans rights and inclusion, erode academic freedom, and undermine research quality.

Like the Cass Review, the Sullivan Review is politics-based-evidence-making.

It operates as "Contrived Authority" (@natacha.bsky.social), putting a stamp of 'academia' and 'science' onto a political project of removal of trans rights & erasure or denial of the existence of trans children.

Vote Green or let Reform in.

It's that simple.
Tactical voting in Gorton & Denton means voting Green to stop Reform, not Labour. It’s between the Greens and the fascists.

Reform 39
Greens 34
Labour 21

But it is more than that. The Greens offer positive policies and hope for the future. Labour & Reform just more of the same-old-same-old.
